A WhatsApp group chat (often described as roughly nine participants) from about September 8, 2025 contains lines in which Kirk vents about donor pressure and says he is being pushed toward leaving the pro-Israel cause. TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet has publicly confirmed the authenticity of this chat in commentary widely clipped on X.

Circulating wording, aggregated from Owens releases and secondary reporting, includes variants of:
- Losing a huge / ~$2 million donor for refusing to cancel Tucker Carlson
- "Jewish donors play into all the stereotypes. I cannot and will not be bullied like this."
- "Leaving me no choice but to leave the pro-Israel cause" (or near-identical phrasing)

Why investigators treat this as the anchor
On X, posts after Owens published the material argue that the chat stopped being dismissible as a "hoax" once Kolvet confirmed it. Commentators including Clint Russell have claimed Kolvet not only confirmed authenticity but also shared screenshots with the FBI as potential motive context — a claim about Kolvet's conduct, not a finding that any donor committed a crime.
