Alternative Calibers & Weapons

If the Mauser .30-06 / Losee rooftop chain fails on ATF match, energy, or trajectory, investigators propose closer, lower-energy, or non-rifle mechanisms. This page summarizes attributed theories — not adjudicated facts.

1. Israeli CornerShot 9mm +P (tent / van)

@ProjectConstitu and Dr. Chris Martenson threads (see @stevendenoon YouTube: zeioeWdmSIw) propose:

ElementClaim
WeaponCornerShot-style hinged system with screen aim
Caliber9mm +P (~1330 fps)
OriginInside tent or grey van tunnel (IR laser on Frank Turek phone)
Wound signatureCavitation, necklace snap, pugilist posture, energy dumped internally
CasingShell ejected downward near tent — cited in tent-shooter threads

2. Suppressed high-velocity small-bore

Some audio analyses argue the crack-thump pattern fits suppressed .22-250-class velocity more than a distant .30-06 boom — overlapping Mic acoustics and @troofevades placement claims. A breakdown cited in the investigation file (Red Randumb Ruminations on YouTube) describes the report as a "flack-thump" from 100–200 yards, consistent with a high-velocity snap from a suppressed small-bore rifle rather than a "thunderous .30-06 boom" or "rooftop roar." The same thread argues the wound signature — small, clean, bullet-sized entry with a massive cavitation exit — fits hollow-point or Hydra-Shok rounds that mushroom on impact, and compares the T1 neck fragment to deer-hunt bullets that embed under the skin after long flight. These are attributed audio/terminal-ballistics interpretations, not lab conclusions.

3. Shaped charge — mic, pendant, or crucifix

Parallel non-bullet hypotheses (detailed on Mic, not fully duplicated here):

  • PETN micro-charge in RØDE Wireless PRO transmitter / magnetic clasp
  • Crucifix pendant micro shaped charge — military commentator "cone charge" math in CK file
  • Candace Owens: shaped charge intended for chest, malfunctioned up into neck

Skeptic counter: large shaped-charge demos produce visible smoke signatures — see Mic shape-charge demo.

4. "No shot from Losee" lane

Some analysts state no credible footage shows a shot fired from Losee because no rifle shot occurred there — the rooftop figure and recovered Mauser are patsy props in that framing. That is maximal skepticism of the official weapon location, distinct from [alternative caliber] only.

Hollow-point / T1 fragment analogy

Deer-hunt and Hydra-Shok analogies in commentary argue the T1 neck fragment behaves like a mushrooming handgun bullet embedding under skin — not a full-power .30-06 pass-through.

Citizen Investigator Claims on X (Attributed)

Ballistics is one of the most active Kirk threads on X.

  • ATF inconclusive: @TheQuartering notes defense filings cite ATF experts "unable to identify" the fragmented bullet to the specific Mauser—not a finding the bullet "wasn't .30-06." @ShekandaPeoples explains jacket suitable / lead unsuitable / insufficient individual characteristics.
  • Counter: @misfitpatriot_ argues soft-point .30-06 should fragment and that non-match is being overclaimed; @OfVoice35353 cites hearing testimony that fragments measure ~.286–.301" and fit the .30 cal family.
  • Energy / trajectory skeptics recirculate charts comparing ~3950 J rifle energy to observed wound and argue Losee roof angles (5–9°) and C2 path problems—see sibling pages.

Alternative hypotheses on X include 9mm+P, suppressed small-bore, and shaped-charge mic/pendant theories—speculative unless primary forensics support them.

All ballistics claims await full public exhibits and independent review. No living examiner is accused of crime as site fact.

Two excerpts from the preliminary hearing transcript. The upper excerpt is examination about whether the interior of the barrel was inspected and whether it had debris or dust, with the answer that notes state debris and dust were observed inside the barrel. The lower excerpt is examination about measuring the bullet, with the answer that the range of the diameter was .286 to .301 inches.

Barrel Dust & Bullet Diameter

An ATF examiner testified that dust and debris were observed inside the seized barrel, and measured the jacket fragment at .286 to .301 inches — under the .308 a .30-06 fires. The counterarguments are here too: a deformed jacket measures small, and a fired barrel still collects dust.

Rifle Fingerprints & Mismatch

Robinson's prints were reportedly not the only set on the recovered rifle, and no video shows anyone firing it. The rooftop-footage filmmaker, an experienced firearms instructor, reportedly says the gun and the outfit do not match Tyler.

ATF Fragment — Inconclusive Match

The state's own September 17, 2025 ATF report could neither identify nor exclude the seized Mauser as the source of the autopsy jacket fragment. The rifling matched "numerous makes and models" — a class, not a weapon. The defense reportedly calls that exculpatory, and it is a large part of why independent work has moved toward a device at the podium.

Gun Dropped Location

The rifle was reportedly dropped in a wooded strip with buildings on either side. The official account puts a car in a UVU lot at 8:29 AM and never says when it left — and no cell-tower record filling that gap has been released.

Professional four-channel audio roughly forty-six metres from the tent, uncompressed at 48kHz. Analysts read three separated low-frequency events from it and place the loudest one at the stage rather than on the roof.

CornerShot Technology (Israeli Hardware Claims)

An infrared laser reflected on a phone screen and a casing reportedly dropping downward are the two observations behind the CornerShot claim — hinged Israeli hardware firing 9mm from crowd level rather than a rifle on a roof.

Grey Van Shooter — Laser POI

An infrared laser reflected on a phone screen reportedly traces back to a grey van under the tent tunnel, whose rear hatch opens about four seconds before the shot and shuts immediately after. Person of interest only — no accusation is made.

Explosive in Mic Likely Killed Charlie

The majority citizen finding, stated plainly: a small concealed charge at the microphone or pendant explains the shirt movement, the missing exit wound, and the debris in the SUV better than a distant rifle round. The skeptic counterargument is carried on the same page.
