@Ariana_J_21 is a citizen ballistics analyst working the fragment-measurement lane — the argument that the recovered jacket fragments do not fit the rifle the State recovered. These are online technical arguments, not published peer-reviewed ballistics reports.

  • Recovered jacket-fragment measurements (~0.286–0.301" in their posts) are argued to be too small for a full .30-06 (0.308") bullet profile. Recorded on rifle chain of custody.
  • Heavy fragmentation is argued to be inconsistent with common non-frangible .30-06 loads — feeding the fragment-versus-caliber debate at wound analysis theories.
  • Amplified July 2026 threads on the sealed ATF ballistics and commentary alleging the FBI may revive Comparative Bullet Lead Analysis (CBLA) — a technique the FBI abandoned in 2005 after National Academy of Sciences criticism. Investigative value​

The fragment-dimension argument is the most concrete of the citizen ballistics claims because it is falsifiable — released measurements and lab documentation would settle it. Until the ATF/FBI raw files are public, the site holds the claim beside the official "could not be identified or excluded" language from the preliminary hearing.

The state's own September 17, 2025 ATF report could neither identify nor exclude the seized Mauser as the source of the autopsy jacket fragment. The rifling matched "numerous makes and models" — a class, not a weapon. The defense reportedly calls that exculpatory, and it is a large part of why independent work has moved toward a device at the podium.
