@cletus_jethro's anchoring objection is aimed at a loosely clipped, unanchored lapel mic. Investigators answer that on September 10 the transmitter was reportedly routed under the shirt and held magnetically against the chest — anchored against the body — and that either placement is an explosion at the collar, not the government's rifle. Can both be true?

Some analysts treat mic and pendant as redundant kill mechanisms — either consistent with foreign-intelligence "pager attack" style redundancy. Others look for one primary device. Either way, investigators' conclusion is the same: the explosive was worn at the chest and neck.

No public residue test of either object has been released.

The smoke-signature question
