Chain 6: The Rooftop Figure Is Not Identified as Robinson

The conclusion this chain reaches
The FBI's 7:55 PM rooftop-and-stairwell release does not identify Tyler Robinson. Clothing conflicts, a backpack that does not fit the claimed rifle, no visible firing event, uncalled roof witnesses, and a BOLO issued after the custody time at issue are five separate problems. Any one of them can be explained. The official identification has to survive all five.

Link 1 — The imagery was released as a wanted poster after the custody time
The FBI put rooftop and stairwell stills out at 7:55 PM on September 11 as a person-of-interest BOLO. If Chain 4 is dated correctly, Robinson had already invoked counsel. A BOLO is for a fugitive. See enhanced suspect photos and rooftop video trimmed.
Strength: this link is only as strong as the Miranda date. If the tape is September 12, the BOLO is ordinary. If it is September 11, the public was shown a manhunt for a man already sitting down.
Link 2 — Clothing does not match the documented Robinson
Analysts comparing the rooftop figure frame by frame against what Robinson is documented wearing report conflicts — black clothing versus jeans, Robinson clothing changes, Tyler clothing conflicts. Multiple witnesses described a man in all black, which is not the state's documented outfit — all-black construction worker, eyewitness vs. the text confession, black-clad suspect dropped.
Strength: weak individually (compression and lighting fake clothing colour constantly) and interesting in aggregate (the all-black description kept recurring, and those witnesses have not been called).
Link 3 — The backpack does not fit a 44-inch Mauser 98
A Mauser 98 is a full-length military bolt-action, roughly 44 inches. The concealment argument is backpack rifle impossibility and stairs guy and backpack. Analysts comparing the morning pack (described as light-blue, roughly half full, with shorts) against the stairs/roof pack (described as ~90–95% full, with dark jeans) treat that as a clothing-and-volume change, not a lighting trick — stairs guy identity gap. A satire clip of two men sliding rifles down slim-fit jeans is recorded on the Narrative overview because the counter-argument belongs in the record; comedy is not a controlled test.
On X from late September 2025 onward, this was one of the first "the official story is physically wrong" lines — "It wasn't broken down and put in a bag. Impossible" (@dean38499124245, Sept 27, 2025).
Strength: moderate. People have walked rifles off campuses before. The specific backpack in the stills is the question, and native-resolution footage would settle the volume argument.
Link 4 — Nothing on the roof looks like a shot being fired
Reviewers of the available footage report they cannot identify a muzzle flash or a recoil event at the moment of the shot — no muzzle flash or recoil. Some go further: no shot from the roof at all. Chain 1 uses this as a mechanism argument. This chain uses it as an identification argument: a figure on a roof who does not fire is not the shooter even if he is Robinson.
Strength: weak on its own. Daylight muzzle flash is frequently invisible; shouldered recoil is a small motion at that distance and resolution.
Link 5 — The movement profile is being read as trained, not panicked
Based Sam Parker and others argue the roof sequence shows a lateral military crawl, a drop from height without hesitation, and a controlled sprint — military lateral crawl, trained roof drop, roof-run limp that disappears. A first-time shooter fleeing in panic is a different vocabulary.
Strength: contested. Adrenaline makes untrained people look athletic. Movement-profile claims from compressed video are a known overfit.
Link 6 — Roof eyewitnesses have not been called
The identification the state wants is a video identification. The identification that would actually close it is a person who saw the figure's face. Investigators have catalogued an uncalled roof eyewitness and multiple roofs, multiple figures. A preliminary hearing that does not call the people who were looking at the roof is a hearing that is not using the strongest available ID evidence.
Strength: moderate as a process fact. Preliminary hearings are not trials. The absence will matter more if it repeats at trial.
Where the chain lands
The official identification is a release of selected, later-enhanced stills of a distant figure, issued as a BOLO, matched to a charged man whose clothing, pack, and firing event are all in dispute, while the humans who saw the roof have not been put on a stand. Citizen investigators have been saying "that is not him" since the week of the killing (@CAMsRemixes, October 12, 2025: "Tyler Robinson was NOT the shooter"). The state's public ID has not gotten sharper in the eleven months since. The footage that would settle it is UVU HD withheld.
This chain does not identify the rooftop figure. It says the state's identification has not been made.
The strongest objection to this whole chain
Low-resolution surveillance is a terrible medium, and that cuts both ways. It undermines the FBI's confident release and it equally undermines confident amateur exclusions. Clothing colour shifts. People move well under stress. Muzzle flash hides in daylight. A household rifle can be carried in pieces. A BOLO issued after an arrest is sometimes just a slow press shop. Pixel-level exclusion is the weakest genre of internet investigation, and this chain contains some of it on purpose — labelled weak — because it is what people actually argue.
The links that survive that haircut are release timing, the uncalled eyewitness, and the backpack-versus-rifle geometry. Those three do not need a pause button.
What would settle it
- Native-resolution, untrimmed UVU and campus camera footage.
- The FBI image-enhancement work product — what was enhanced, when, by whom.
- The timestamped BOLO release log against the custody record.
- The roof eyewitnesses, under oath.
