7. How much weight the confession package really carries

Attributed claims only

Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, has not entered a guilty plea, and is presumed innocent. This site makes no claim that Lance Twiggs, any family member, or any officer lied, forged anything, or committed a crime. The question here is what the evidence is, how it was gathered, and how it has been described.

The issue in plain words​

People often say Tyler Robinson "confessed." It is worth asking what that word is standing on. There is no signed, sworn confession from Robinson to police. What exists is a package of other material, mostly gathered from or through other people.

The state's hearing exhibits, as quoted in its memorandum, include a transcript of the police interview with Lance Twiggs (Exhibit 16), text messages between Robinson and Twiggs (Exhibit 16.1, at least 17 pages), Discord messages (Exhibit 16.2, 2 pages), and a handwritten note (Exhibit 16.3). This issue asks how heavy that package really is, and how official-side commentators used it.

The fed slop side, in full​

The official-narrative accounts say the package is devastating, and denying it is bad faith. The charging documents of September 16, 2025, and the July 2026 hearing put these lines in public:

  • Twiggs: "you werent the one who did it right????" Reply attributed to Robinson: "I am, I'm sorry."
  • Motive line: "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out."
  • A note left for Twiggs, addressed to "Luna," that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and was going to take it; the fuller text shown in July 2026 also said he left the house "on a mission" and set an auto-text.
  • A Discord thread in which friends were incredulous "because you're saying it was you," and the attributed reply was "It was." See the Discord confession claim.
  • The recorded roommate interview, played at the hearing, in which Twiggs told investigators Robinson later said he wished he hadn't done it.
  • Reported family encouragement to surrender.

The state's memorandum summarizes it this way: that Robinson "admitted to Mr. Twiggs and other friends that he had shot Mr. Kirk." Taken at face value, that is strong evidence. A confession is intuitive in a way ballistics never is, which is why the package did so much work in the press.

What citizen investigators say​

Investigators say every piece of the package runs through someone else's device, a photo of a screen, or a roommate's account, not a contemporaneous statement by Robinson himself. The long form is Faked Confession.

  • Unsigned notes. A handwritten note is not a signed statement. Authorship has not been tested in open court by an examiner the defense can cross-examine.
  • A cooperating roommate. Twiggs cooperated and reportedly received limited immunity. He is not charged as the shooter. Investigators say that is exactly the kind of witness whose account needs testing. See Twiggs's phone and Lance Twiggs's witness role.
  • Screens, not seizures. Investigators were reportedly allowed to photograph the roommate's screen. The state has indicated it will not offer forensic extractions of the devices.   • No signed confession and no guilty plea. Candace Owens has argued at length that a walk-in confession to a capital crime produces a sworn written statement within the hour. None has been produced. Robinson has maintained innocence.
  • The Discord clock. A defense filing places a Miranda warning at 6:25 p.m. on September 11, with counsel invoked, about ninety minutes before the "It was me at UVU yesterday" post. The Miranda–Discord chain and the custody timeline are the document argument. Discord's public position is that it found no evidence of planning on its platform.
  • The Orem texts versus Panguitch. The same evening package has Robinson in Orem at 9:00 p.m. A Panguitch dinner around 9:47 p.m. cannot sit on the same body as those texts unless the phone was not on him.

Investigators also say commentators who said he "admitted guilt" overstated what the charging documents say. The documents allege admissions through messages. They are not a confession under oath. Charlie's own Discord material is a different file entirely: Charlie's Discord messages.

When this fight ran​

  • September 16, 2025. Charging documents put the roommate texts and keyboard note in the press. Official-side accounts called it a confession that week.
  • September 11 evening clock. The Discord post versus surrender story is the sequencing that made the narrative coherent. The custody-time fight is the same clock.
  • July 9, 2026, preliminary hearing. Prosecutors displayed the Twiggs texts, the handwritten note, and Discord messages on a screen. Official-side commentators called it devastating. Investigators noted Twiggs still did not have to testify live, and the state still had no signed statement.
  • August–September 2026. Bind-over language treated the package as enough. Investigators kept asking for the extractions the state said it would not offer.

Why it matters for Tyler Robinson​

If the confession is really a set of messages that passed through other people's phones, then its weight depends on whether those messages were authentic, complete, and sent by him at the times claimed. The Panguitch dinner and the custody clock both put that in doubt. A framing, investigators say, would not need a signed statement. It would need exactly this: messages that read like a confession and that no one has been allowed to test at the source. What would settle it​

  • Full forensic extractions of Robinson's and Twiggs's phones, offered in court with timestamps and time zones.
  • Discord's server-side records for the posting account.
  • Handwriting analysis of the note by an examiner the defense can cross-examine.
  • The complete Twiggs interview recording and the terms of his immunity agreement.
  • The date field on the Bates 003996-R2 Miranda video — the single metadata field that resolves the ninety-minute contradiction.
