8. Was anyone filmed taking the shot?

Attributed claims only

Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, has not entered a guilty plea, and is presumed innocent. The rooftop witness described here gave an interview, not sworn testimony, and this site does not name him. This site makes no claim that any prosecutor, agent, or officer said anything untrue or committed a crime.

The issue in plain words​

The state says the shot that killed Charlie Kirk at 12:23 p.m. on September 10, 2025 came from the roof of the Losee Center, about 150 yards (roughly 430 feet in contemporaneous press) from the tent where he was speaking. Campus cameras, the state says, tracked Tyler Robinson around UVU that day. See UVU surveillance.

There is a difference between video of a person on campus and video of a person firing a rifle. This issue asks: is there any footage, public or shown in court, of anyone aiming or firing?

Cause of death

The rooftop .30-06 is the government's narrative. Most citizen investigators conclude Charlie Kirk was killed by an explosive at the microphone. A missing muzzle-flash tape is one of the reasons they land there.

The fed slop side, in full​

Official-side commentators say prosecutors told the court that surveillance shows Robinson on campus taking the shot. A figure goes onto the roof, lies prone for a time, and then leaves in a hurry. On this view, rooftop prone time plus that exit is the shooter, and identity is settled even without a public muzzle flash. The rooftop-figure-is-Robinson claim is that identification.

There is a real point here. A muzzle flash in bright daylight can be invisible on video. Distant surveillance cameras are not built to capture recoil. The FBI released a clip of a person running across the roof after the event. The absence of a visible flash does not, by itself, prove no shot was fired. Hearing guests in July 2026 talked as if enhanced copies closed the question. That fight is its own row: the 4K roof claim.

What citizen investigators say​

Investigators say there is still no video of anyone aiming or firing. Reviewers of the public footage report no visible muzzle flash and no recoil at the moment of the shot — no muzzle flash or recoil. Some go further and argue no shot came from the roof. The state's hearing compilation, Exhibit 12.1, was described by the FBI agent who authenticated it as campus video of movements, with zooms, blurring, and red circles added. It was not described as footage of a shot.

On July 11, 2026, Candace Owens wrote that the court had already heard a clear question and answer: there is no video of any person taking the shot. Ryan Matta asked the same week why official-side guests were describing zoomed-in footage of a trigger press when prosecutors had already admitted there is no video of anyone firing. Owens later said those guests walked it back to "prone position," which is a different claim.

The closest thing to an eyewitness on the roof is a man who says he filmed the figure. In his own words, he recorded about 20 seconds, and the shot came about five seconds after he stopped recording. He described all-black tactical clothing, a face mask, and a long gun, and said the figure then "absolutely sprinted off the roof." According to Owens, he says the rifle he saw does not match the one presented in court and that the person was not dressed like Robinson. Late July 2026, Owens released clearer Losee Center CCTV of the minute-plus before 12:23: a figure sprints, does what she called a lateral crawl, goes prone, then later sprints off. Project Constitution's write-up of that drop: no visible gun and no recoil from a Mauser 98 in the prone position. Official-side accounts answered that another unreleased angle shows a rifle. That angle is still not public. Pressure on witnesses to withhold phone video is catalogued at witness footage pressure. Officer Bagley's bodycam, the state's own roof camera of a kind, died as he reached the roof.

Most citizen investigators go further. They conclude the fatal event was an explosive at the microphone, which would explain why no one on the roof is ever seen firing. The Canon XA55 audio is the two-event argument: a louder event at the tent. The rooftop-figure-is-not-Robinson chain collects the identification problems.

When this fight ran​

  • September 10–11, 2025. Immediate roof-run clips. Press treated a person on the Losee roof as the shooter. No public frame of a trigger press that week, or since.
  • July 6–11, 2026, preliminary hearing. Official-side guests described enhanced HD / 4K of a shot. Same-week court watchers and Owens said the exhibit was campus movement, and that the judge and lawyers had already said there is no firing video.
  • July 29–30, 2026. Owens's Losee CCTV drop. Investigators: lateral crawl, no gun, no recoil. Official-side accounts: trust the unreleased angle.

Why it matters for Tyler Robinson​

A murder case with no footage of the act leans harder on everything else: the DNA, the texts, and the identification of a distant figure. If the only person who watched the roof says the figure was dressed differently and carried a different gun, and stopped filming five seconds before the shot, then the gap in the video is not a small one. What would settle it​

  • Release of the rooftop witness's video and his written campus report from September 10.
  • Native-resolution footage from every camera with a view of the Losee Center roof at 12:23 p.m.
  • The unreleased "other angle" official-side commentators say shows a rifle, if it exists.
  • The raw multitrack audio from the event, analyzed for the direction and number of sound events.
  • Sworn testimony from every person who watched the roof.
