45. ROTC-linked circulation of the only roof-runner videos
Nothing on this page claims as fact that any student, cadet, ROTC program, university, or official filmed, edited, or released any video improperly, or had any knowledge of or role in Charlie Kirk's death. No person is named. Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, and presumed innocent.
The issue in plain words
On September 10, 2025, a figure was seen on the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University, then seen dropping off the roof and running. The State says that figure was Tyler Robinson. Almost everything the public knows about that figure comes from a handful of short clips: a view of someone on the roof, a ground-side view of someone coming off the corner, and surveillance cuts of a runner. Those clips are collected under Roof and Runner Clips. One of the earliest phone clips, "There's Somebody On The Roof Right There," is roofshooter1.
Citizen investigators say the earliest of these roof-runner clips reached the public through people connected to the campus ROTC world. This site has not documented who first posted each clip. What it has documented is that the UVU campus map labels a building near that area "Army ROTC," that citizen route maps put the ROTC building on the claimed egress path, and that the claimed date of the ground-side roof-jumper video changed as it circulated. The question: when so few videos exist, does it matter whose hands they passed through?

The fed slop side, in full
UVU is a big campus with a military-affiliated student community, and its campus map places an Army ROTC building near the route investigators trace from the roof. It would be surprising if nobody connected to ROTC had a phone out that day. People share what they film. A clip's first poster tells you nothing about whether the figure in it was Robinson, and treating a student's military ties as a clue is guilt by association. On this view, the footage matters; the uploader does not.
Official-side commentators treat the July 2026 hearing compilation as the answer. Agent David Hull walked the court through campus cameras: a figure rolling over a railing onto the Losee roof around 12:15 p.m., running to the southwest corner around 12:23, going prone, then standing after the reported 12:23:28 shot and dropping off the northeast corner. Prosecutors said the compilation does not show the shot itself. Accounts repeating the charging package still call it identity closed. From this chair, asking which student first posted a bystander clip is a way to turn a 22-year-old apprentice into an intelligence operation. A rifle on a roof does not become a program because a cadet hit share.
What citizen investigators say
Investigators say the uploader matters because there is so little footage. Thousands of people were in the courtyard, yet the public has only a few seconds of the roof and the run. When the whole identity case rests on a few clips, investigators say three facts about each clip have to be known: who filmed it, who trimmed it, and who decided to release it.
They point to gaps the site already records. A widely shared claim says the released rooftop-view surveillance clip begins at 12:23:34 pm, after the runner was already moving. The ground-side jumper video's claimed date shifted as it spread: first as pre-September 10 footage, then as September 10 footage. A December 2025 post in the same argument said the jumper clip was "shot by the ROTC days before the Kirk assassination." That is an online claim, not a provenance report. The dating page exists because the original source is still the open question. And the one person who says he filmed the roof figure describes all-black tactical gear, not the t-shirt and jeans in the State's account. A January 2026 reply in the investigator lane asked whether Candace Owens had said the roof footage came from UVU ROTC and had a source for it. This site has not independently confirmed that sourcing. What it can say is that citizen maps of the claimed run put "UVU Army ROTC" on the path between the Losee Center and the wooded area where the towel-wrapped rifle was later described, and that Project Constitution has treated the roof clips as a provenance problem rather than a closed ID. The rooftop-figure chain is the long form of that argument: clothing conflicts, no public muzzle flash, uncalled eyewitnesses.
Investigators conclude the fatal event was an exploding microphone, not a rooftop .30-06. The not-a-.30-06 chain and the gun and bullet section are that physical case. The roof-runner clips still matter, because they are the State's identity case. If those clips were selected, trimmed, or dated by a small set of hands while other courtyard phones stayed dark, investigators say that is a source-control question, not a detail. They do not say any cadet or instructor committed a crime.
When this fight ran
- September 10–11, 2025. Bystander roof clips hit X the evening of the killing. Official-side accounts treated a runner on a roof as the shooter within hours.
- Late 2025. The jumper-video date began to drift in circulation. Investigator posts asked whether the clip was older training or event-day footage, and whether ROTC-adjacent accounts were the first hop.
- December 2025 – January 2026. Direct claims that ROTC filmed the jumper "days before," and questions about whether Owens had a ROTC source for roof footage. Unverified, still on the table.
- July 6–8, 2026. Hearing week. Hull's compilation became the official-side close. Investigators kept pointing at the missing muzzle, the 12:23:34 start, and the 911 kit.
Why it matters for Tyler Robinson
The roof figure is the heart of the identification. If the only public clips were selected, trimmed, or dated by a small set of hands, the public cannot check whether the person on the roof and the person running are the same, or whether either is Tyler Robinson. Provenance is how any video becomes evidence. Proof Not Tyler and Tyler Robinson is not the assassin both lean on that gap. A bind-over does not supply a first-uploader log.
What would settle it
- The original files of each roof and runner clip, with device metadata and first upload times.
- The identity of each original filmer, and whether police or the FBI interviewed them.
- The full, untrimmed surveillance files for the Losee Center roof and the runner path.
- Whether any other bystander footage of the roof was collected and never released.
- A straight answer, on the record, to whether any ROTC-affiliated person filmed, cut, or first posted any of the circulating clips — which would still not be an accusation of a crime.
