60. Who benefits if the steakhouse last-four are never compared in public
Nothing on this page says the FBI, any officer, the Robinson family, the restaurant, its owner or its staff committed a crime, lied, or had foreknowledge of the killing. The restaurant's staff and owner are private people, and nobody should contact or harass them. Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, has not entered a guilty plea, and is presumed innocent.
The issue in plain words
Cowboy's Smokehouse is a restaurant in Panguitch, Utah, about 209 road miles south of Orem, roughly three and a half hours' drive from Utah Valley University. A photographed receipt from that restaurant, Check #211, Table 24, is dated 9/10/25, ordered at 8:55 p.m. and paid at 9:47 p.m., for $38.51, on a Visa Debit card. The card number is blurred in the source. The approval code printed on the ticket is 010864.
Staff have said on camera that they served Tyler Robinson that night. If true, he was far from the Orem area on the evening of the killing, which does not fit the state's timeline. The simplest way to test it is to compare the last four digits of that card with Robinson's cards. That comparison has never been published.
This issue is the meta-question around that test: who benefits if the four digits stay private. Investigators, including Candace Owens and Project Constitution, say a match-or-mismatch from the FBI or the family is the cheapest way to kill or confirm the Orem-at-9:00 p.m. story. Official-side accounts say the restaurant should be left alone, and treat the owner's later recant as the end of the lead.

The fed slop side, in full
Stated fairly: this is a small family business that did nothing but serve dinner. The owner has said the store received harassing phone calls. He was not there that night. In later interviews he has said that as far as he knows he does not think it was Tyler Robinson, though it could be, and he has called the circulating story a conspiracy. The restaurant later declined to stand behind a confirmation.
Mistaken identity is the most common way small-town sightings go wrong, especially after a suspect's photo has been on every screen. Official-narrative accounts in August and September 2026 treated an owner recant, and a reported owner text that Robinson did not eat there, as a full debunk. They add that a blurred card, an e-signature, and a PIN-entry last-four prove nothing without a bank match, and that even a card hit could mean someone else held the plastic.
From this view, pressing the story further hurts real people over a lead that has already fallen apart. Leave the restaurant alone. The campus video ID, they say, already places Robinson in the north valley.
Official-side accounts also attack the ticket on its face: a blurred PAN, an e-signature that may not match a legal signature, a date glyph that looks "off," a 9:47 timestamp whose digits do not match the rest of the font. Those are arguments a lab or a processor record would settle in an afternoon. They are being used instead as a reason never to run the comparison. The restaurant's Google reviews and liquor license became part of the fight, which is the harassment the official side says it is against — and which investigators say was aimed at the lead, not at truth.
What citizen investigators say
Investigators agree the restaurant should be left alone, and say that is exactly why the card matters. A card record needs no one's memory and no one's courage under harassment.
According to the full visit video, recorded on July 11, 2026, the owner handed over the physical receipt and said it was the ticket in question, and a staff member said he was certain he served Robinson. Staff say the tip reached the FBI, that the last four digits of the card were given to agents, and that nobody came back. Project Constitution's later reconstruction of the January 2026 Fox interview is that the owner then described a quiet lone diner matching Robinson, a medium-rare sirloin, a PIN-entry debit card, and last-four digits handed to the Bureau.
What changed, investigators say, is the heat, not the receipt. After the July visit went public, official-side accounts amplified owner-recant interviews. Project Constitution's position, posted August 30, 2026, is blunt: the owner did not wait the table; the two servers who did said they were highly certain; the merchant system prints only the last four, not a last name; until the FBI or the family puts those four digits next to Robinson's debit card, nobody has closed the file.
The stakes, as laid out in the Panguitch chain, are high. The state's evening places Robinson in the Orem area, including a claimed Dairy Queen stop around 6:38 p.m. (travel page) and the text messages attributed to him that night. A diner in Panguitch at 9 p.m. could not also be sending those messages from Orem. Either the card is his, and the timeline breaks, or it is not, and the alibi story ends. Investigators say the comparison is cheap for anyone who holds the records, and that its absence is itself worth noting. The longer form of that collision is Panguitch — the town that breaks the timeline.
The Goforth midnight stop, a reported vehicle contact around 12:30 a.m., is examined against the same receipt. The receipt line by line is the primary document.
Investigators also note what the owner himself said about the merchant system, even in the recant window: it does not print a last name. Only the last four. That is why an owner's later "I have no reason to believe it was him" cannot close the file. He is describing the limit of his own till, not a bank match. The FBI has Robinson's accounts. The family has Robinson's accounts. Either of those parties can end the argument with four digits. Neither has.

- August 26–30, 2026. Owner recant interviews. Official-narrative accounts: "debunked." Investigator accounts: the servers and the card are the test; the owner is not.
- September 10–19, 2026. Anniversary week. Short posts — "the steakhouse has been debunked" — as a loyalty closer, still without a published digit match.
The investigator demand has not moved: publish the four digits against Robinson's cards.
Why it matters for Tyler Robinson
This is one of the few pieces of evidence that can be checked objectively and quickly. If he was in Panguitch at 9 p.m., much of the evening case against him cannot stand, and investigators say that would point strongly toward a frame (Tyler Robinson not assassin; Proof Not Tyler). If he was not, the question closes cleanly. Leaving it unanswered helps nobody who wants the truth, including Robinson. It does help anyone whose charging theory needs him in Orem that night.
The FBI and the cover-up file are where a refused comparison belongs. Fix is where a law would force the records out.
A recant under harassment is not a bank match. An e-signature argument is not a bank match. "Leave the restaurant alone" is the one point both sides can share, and it is the reason the four digits should have been published months ago by the people who already have them.
What would settle it
- The last four digits of the card on Check #211, compared with every card on Robinson's accounts.
- The merchant processor's record for approval code 010864, which ties the transaction to a card without relying on anyone's memory.
- FBI records of when the restaurant's tip was received and what was done with it.
- Cell-site location data for Robinson's phone between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on September 10.
- Any road or fuel camera on the routes between Orem and Panguitch that evening.
