Josh Hammer is a conservative legal analyst, commentator, and opinion editor at Newsweek. He is an Orthodox Jew and a prominent pro-Israel voice in American conservative media. His name is among the most frequently cited in commentary about the reported Hamptons intervention of early August 2025.

Background​

Hammer holds a B.A. from Duke University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before moving into media and commentary.

  • Commentators describe the gathering as confrontational — an intervention with explicit asks regarding Israel policy, platform bookings, and Tucker Carlson's TPUSA appearances.
  • Charlie Kirk reportedly later described the weekend to Megyn Kelly as an intervention rather than a friendly retreat.
  • Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly called Charlie separately to offer financial support tied to an Israel trip, which Kirk reportedly declined, per the same commentary compilations.
