Mikey McCoy

Disclaimer: Inclusion on this page does not imply that this individual had knowledge of, participated in, or committed any illegal or immoral act. This page documents their publicly known connection to the events of September 10, 2025 for investigative reference only.

Mikey McCoy is Chief of Staff at Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and one of Charlie Kirk's closest friends. He was standing feet from the stage when Kirk was shot on September 10, 2025, and is central to citizen-investigator reconstruction of the first-minute post-shot call chain.

As one of Kirk's closest colleagues, McCoy's movements and statements on the day Charlie Kirk was assassinated are of interest to investigators; see Cause of Death.

Post-Shot Call Timeline (12:23–12:24)

The minute after Charlie Kirk was struck at approximately 12:23 PM MDT is among the most scrutinized intervals in the case. Public accounts from Erika Kirk, Blake Neff, and video stills cited in timeline compilations do not fully align — the project records this as an open reconstruction question, not a finding of wrongdoing.

Calls Reported in Public Accounts

According to accounts that have circulated in media and commentary, Mikey placed or attempted calls to:

No accusation in this project holds that Mikey McCoy knew of any assassination plan. Questions here concern timeline reconstruction and organizational response only.

Role at TPUSA

Mikey McCoy serves as Chief of Staff — Kirk's top operational aide inside TPUSA. He is the son of Rob McCoy, co-founder of TPUSA Faith and Kirk's described personal pastor. Mikey has publicly described Kirk as his "boss, mentor, and close friend."

The "Assistant and Handler" Remark (Circulated July 2026)

26-second stage clip. Video originally posted by @SupCitizen on X, quoted by @SwordTruth on X, July 25, 2026.

On July 25, 2026 a 26-second clip circulated on X in which a speaker on stage describes Mikey McCoy as "Charlie's assistant and handler." The accounts that posted it — @SupCitizen and @SwordTruth — identify the speaker as Tyler Bowyer, Turning Point Action's COO. That attribution is theirs; this site has not independently confirmed who is speaking, or the date and venue of the underlying footage.

The full machine transcription of the clip reads:

"We brought Mikey in and he was, uh, he was, uh, for, I mean, so, so young as a Charlie's assistant and handler and has been around, like, again, one-on-one, which we have, we have 2 most of the videos you see of Charlie. Mikey is taken for the last five years next to it or we have 2 more clips. They're short, which I'd say just playing both, 87, 88. Just play them back to back, guys."

What this site records is only that the speaker in that video used the word "handler." It is not a claim by this website that Mikey McCoy was a "handler" in any sense beyond ordinary staff work. In political-staff usage a handler is a body man or personal aide who manages a principal's schedule and movements — consistent with McCoy's publicly described role as TPUSA Chief of Staff, and with the rest of the same sentence, which is about McCoy filming one-on-one video of Kirk for five years. No wrongdoing by Mr. McCoy is alleged or established. Full context: Charlie Kirk's Handler (Reference).

Connection to September 10, 2025

  • Standing feet from Kirk on stage at the UVU outdoor event
  • Immediate departure from the stage area after the shot, phone to ear per widely shared footage
  • Memorial speaker and appearances on CrossExamined podcast discussing continuation of Kirk's legacy
  • Named alongside Blake Neff and Andrew Kolvet in Candace Owens coverage of TPUSA's post-shot internal response and succession narrative

Mikey–Blake–Kolvet Triangle

Citizen timelines treat Mikey McCoy, Blake Neff, and Andrew Kolvet as a connected cluster in the minutes and days after the shooting: call-timing disputes (Mikey vs. Blake), Kolvet's public communications role, and TPUSA leadership messaging. See also TPUSA Staff — Sept 10.

The Mic'ing Video

According to citizen-investigator commentary compiled in the master file, Mikey McCoy reportedly filmed a close-up video of Charlie Kirk being mic'd up before the event — the microphone setup that is itself a focus of the Mic — Exploding Mic Theory analysis and the AV chain-of-custody questions surrounding Phillip Goldsberry Jr. and Terryl Farnsworth. Commentators have publicly asked where that close-up footage is ("Mikey, where's that video?"), treating it as a potential documentary record of how the wireless mic was placed. This is an open evidentiary question, not an allegation of wrongdoing.

Public footage also reportedly shows Mikey driving or exiting an SUV that arrived at the stage area moments after the shot — cited in Candace Owens timeline commentary alongside the call-timing dispute above.

Potential Evidentiary Value

  • Close eyewitness to the shooting and immediate stage response
  • Post-shot call records — cell timestamps, duration, and tower data could resolve Erika/Mikey/Blake timeline gaps
  • The close-up mic'ing video Mikey reportedly filmed — relevant to microphone-placement questions
  • TPUSA internal communications in the first hour after the event
  • Testimony on event security posture and who was notified when

Laws (Charlie Kirk)

  • The post-shot call records and their timing and the TPUSA internal response communications and cell tower data placing staff on stage are things that the Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws may result in powerful truths coming out that aren't out yet.

Citizen Investigator Claims on X — Call Timeline Controversies

Independent analysts continue to treat the first post-shot minute as a reconstruction problem. The items below are attributed commentary, not findings of wrongdoing by McCoy.

Immediate Departure Footage

@KeliRabon (October 24, 2025) circulated a widely viewed analysis clip arguing that McCoy, standing near Kirk, moved away with a phone to his ear within a split second of the shot, without appearing to render aid. Rabon framed this as a question about who was called and why, not as courtroom proof of conspiracy.

"Seconds" vs Minutes — Conflicting Public Accounts

  • @baroncoleman (December 19, 2025) compared Erika Kirk's Jesse Watters interview language ("within seconds") to a timeline associated with Candace Owens commentary suggesting a longer interval (~three minutes).
  • @5149jamesli (November 7, 2025) highlighted tension between Erika's Fox News account and statements attributed to Andrew Kolvet / TPUSA figures about whether McCoy was on the phone.

Defensive / Clarifying Threads

Other users (e.g. July 2026 replies in hearing-related threads) assert McCoy called Erika so she would not hear first from media, and/or coordinated a joint call with his wife. Those are also attributed explanations, not adjudicated fact.

Site Position

Questions about call logs, phone metadata, and video timestamps are legitimate transparency issues. They do not establish that Mikey McCoy had advance knowledge of any plot. See Timeline and TPUSA.
