N888KG Goes Dark After Takeoff
What This Image Shows
A screenshot of an X post by Stellar Man (@stellarman22). The post reads: "A private jet under the tail number N888KG left Provo airport an hour after the shooting. Suspiciously 30 mins into the flight it drops off of ADS-B Illegally and reappears headed back to Provo approx. an hour later. Why did this plane turn off its radar? Where is the shooter?"
The attached graphic gives a UTC timeline: "N888KG - Provo Regional Airport is 5 miles from Utah Valley University. Times in UTC. Assassination: 18:10. Take off: 19:12. Illegally turns off ADS-B radar: 19:44. 20:30 UTC - Reappears on ADS-B radar." A registry line reads "N888KG - N888KG LLC (LEHI UT)" together with a note that the tail number "is not available for public tracking per request."
The tracking gap and the ownership record are checkable. The characterization of the gap as illegal is the poster's, and it is not clean: ADS-B dropouts occur through terrain shadowing and receiver coverage as well as through equipment being switched off, and blocked tail numbers can vanish from public displays without anything happening in the cockpit. The closing question about the shooter is rhetorical and connects nothing.
The aircraft page is N888KG. The complementary map view is on Photo 3, and the day's flights are assembled at Sept 10 Flight Timeline.
