What This Image Shows​

The presence of numbered markers is the significant detail in this whole sub-cluster. Markers are placed where an item has been found, and photographing them in position is the first step of documenting a recovery. Across the frames collected here the visible marker numbers run into the teens, which indicates a systematic grid search of the corridor rather than a single find.

What was recovered at each marker has not been made public. That gap is the reason the sub-cluster exists: the official summary states that a Mauser .30-06 was located wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the campus, but the sequence of the search, who found what, and when, is what researchers have pressed for.
