It is used on .30-06 Energy Mismatch to establish the premise of that page before the numbers arrive: the round in the official account is not a handgun round and is larger than the standard-issue rifle round used by most modern military units.
The argument built on that premise is that a projectile of this size and energy behaves very differently on impact from what the described injury suggests. Commentators including Dr. Chris Martenson have argued a genuine .30-06 strike at that range would have produced far more violent movement and far more catastrophic tissue damage than the footage shows.
