This is the chart the whole search-pattern argument rests on. It is a Google Trends screenshot for the search term Mark Harlan, filtered to web searches within Israel over a 90-day window. The line sits flat at zero for nearly the entire period and then jumps once, vertically, to the maximum interest value of 100 on September 9, 2025 — the day before the assassination.
The name is one of seven the research deck says belonged to profiles connected with UVU's Center for National Security Studies, and which it claims were removed from public web pages in late September 2025, after the September 10, 2025 assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. The deck elsewhere annotates this name as a "counterintelligence ethics expert" and links a LinkedIn URL for it.
Google Trends normalizes every chart to a 0-100 scale, so a spike built from a handful of searches is drawn exactly the same as one built from thousands. The tool reports no searcher identity, no IP address, and no reason for a search. Common names collect unrelated traffic from unrelated people. A country or metro filter tells you where queries originated, not who made them or what they were looking for.
The date is why this image travels. A one-day spike from a foreign country in interest in a specific name, the day before a killing, is the kind of coincidence that deserves to be checked rather than dismissed. It is also the kind that a normalized chart can manufacture out of a handful of queries, and no raw query volume is shown here.
No person named in this cluster has been charged with or accused of any offense, and no agency has confirmed a link between any of these names and any intelligence service. The chart is one researcher's exhibit, not a finding.
