Everything in this cluster turns on one question with a very large answer: what time was Tyler Robinson actually taken into custody on September 11, 2025? A defense filing quotes a discovery video, Bates-stamped 003996-R2, in which an officer says at internal timestamp 03:36:53, logged as 06:25 PM, "So Tyler, um, before we begin, I'm just gonna read you your rights," and one minute later Robinson answers that he would like to speak with counsel, "hoping for a fellow in Utah named Doug Terry." The Discord messages the state treats as a confession are timestamped around 7:57 PM the same evening. If the 6:25 PM reading happened, and Washington County protocol took his phone at that point, then those messages were typed roughly ninety minutes after he no longer had the phone. Robinson is charged, not convicted, and the seizure time, the account authentication, and the unedited video are all still contested.

The Utah County Sheriff inmate booking sheet lists an arrest date of 09/11/2025 at 10:00 PM with a Date In of 09/12/2025 at 01:58 AM and charges under 76-5-202 aggravated murder, 76-8-306 obstruction of justice, and 76-11-210 felony discharge of a firearm. A Washington County Attorney's Office Facebook post from September 12, 2025 is screenshotted with its hover timestamp exposed. Filing pages show the invocation of the Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights argued against public statements officials made afterward. Two AI-generated summaries — one Google AI Overview, one Grok explainer — are included precisely because they show the confusion: one says the encounter occurred September 11, another says September 12, and the arrest is recorded at 4:00 AM on September 12. Attorney Baron Coleman built the early-arrest argument on exactly that spread, noting that arresting officer Brian Davis would have had to leave northern Utah around 6:30 PM to reach Washington County by 10 PM.
