7:58 PM Press Conference, September 11

Collage of two television news frames from a Utah press conference with red borders, yellow timestamp text, and white name labels over officials at a podium

What This Image Shows

A two-panel collage built from television news frames, bordered in red, with yellow overlay text at the top reading 7:58 PM Utah Time (MDT) and September 11, 2025. White labels identify figures in the frame including Beau Mason and Governor Cox. The scene is a wood-paneled room with a podium bearing a gold and blue seal, American and Utah state flags on eagle-topped poles, and two large monitors on rolling stands. The news ticker along the bottom reads that authorities are still searching for a suspect.

The timestamp is why this collage exists. According to court documents cited by Baron Coleman, Tyler Robinson was already at the police station and was Mirandized at 6:25 PM MDT on September 11 — roughly ninety minutes before this broadcast, in which the ticker still describes an active search. Researchers have used that gap to question the public sequence: the second set of stairwell photographs was released at 7:17 PM Central on the same evening, and the argument raised is that you do not ask the public to help find a man who is already in custody.

Nothing here establishes what any official on that stage knew at that minute, and press tickers routinely lag the room. What the image preserves is the timestamped state of the public messaging on the night of September 11. The custody sequence is set out at Custody and Confession Timeline and Discord Custody Timeline; the photo-release question is at Enhanced Suspect Photos.
