The terrain is the point. Terraced retaining walls of this kind sit along the edges of the campus and the streets that climb away from it, and they define which routes on foot are actually passable — a person moving off the road here would be climbing a wall face, not cutting across open ground.

That constraint bears directly on the timeline dispute. The official account has the suspect covering the distance between the rooftop, the residential streets, and the wooded recovery area on foot, and the terrain determines how long that takes and where it can be observed from.
