Utah S.B. 82 Autopsy Photo Amendments
What This Image Shows
A composite graphic. The banner across the top reads "NEW 2025 UTAH LAW CRIMINALIZES THE SHARING OF AUTOPSY PHOTOS". Below it is a screenshot of the Utah State Legislature page for S.B. 82 Autopsy Photo Amendments, with the standard tabs for Bill Text, Status, and Hearings/Debate.
The page fields are legible: "Bill Sponsor: Sen. Pitcher, Stephanie", "Floor Sponsor: Rep. Peck, Nicholeen P.", "Drafting Attorney: Greg Gunn", "Fiscal Analyst: Russell T. Frandsen". The status line reads "Last Action: 3/26/2025, Governor Signed" with an orange highlight, and "Last Location: Lieutenant Governor's office for filing". A red arrow and a red underline point at the drafting attorney's name. The image carries the watermark of the X account that produced it.
The relevance to this investigation is the calendar rather than the bill's merits: a Utah law restricting the release of autopsy photographs was signed in March 2025, and no autopsy photographs were publicly released after September 10, 2025. Legislation drafted, sponsored, and signed months before an unforeseeable event is ordinary lawmaking, and no impropriety by any sponsor, legislator, or staff attorney is asserted. The companion graphic making the Google Trends claim about the same three names is at Autopsy Law Drafters Searched From Israel.
