Lance Twiggs Searched in DC While Robinson Reads Zero

Google Trends comparison chart in the Washington DC region showing one name at 100 and another at 0 in June 2025

What This Image Shows

A Google Trends comparison of "tyler james robinson" against "Lance Twiggs", filtered to the Washington DC media market across the custom range 1/1/25 - 9/10/25, All categories, Web Search. The tooltip is parked on June 15, 2025, where the two series read 0 and 100 respectively.

The zero is the interesting half. In a two-term comparison the tool scales both series to one shared maximum, so a reading of 0 for "tyler james robinson" across the same bucket and window means the quoted full name generated no measurable interest at all in the D.C. market before September 10 — while "Lance Twiggs" hit the ceiling in mid-June. Researchers read that asymmetry as the anomaly: not that a future defendant was searched, but that his roommate was, in the federal corridor, nearly three months early.

The plainer explanation is that "Lance Twiggs" may not be unique to the person in this case and that a spike to 100 in a normalized comparison can rest on a very small count.
