Graf and Lunnen — Israel Versus Utah Search Interest
Next Image
What This Image Shows
Two Google Trends comparison panels stacked in one capture, both running "Tony graf" against "Robert lunnen". The upper panel is filtered to Israel over 5/1/25 - 10/19/25; the lower panel is filtered to Utah over 1/1/25 - 10/19/25. Hand-added labels mark peaks at MAY 15 and JULY 26 on the Israel panel and at SEPT 21-27 and OCT 5-18 on the Utah panel. Both carry the watermark of the X account that circulated them.
Side-by-side geography is the whole argument here. The Utah panel behaves the way an ordinary reader would expect: local interest in local judges rises after the case becomes news in late September and October. The Israel panel is the claim — readings in May and July 2025, months before September 10, in a bucket with no obvious reason to care about a Fourth District Court appointment in Utah County.
The counterweight is that Trends normalizes each panel against its own maximum, so two panels drawn at different scales cannot be compared by eye, and low-volume buckets amplify small query counts. The annotations are the poster's, not Google's. Single-geography versions of the same comparison are at Israel filter, Utah filter, and no DC data. See judges Graf and Lunnen searches.
