Meme — You Do Not Get Assassinated For Lying

The argument compressed into that one line is that assassination implies the target was telling a dangerous truth. It is a rhetorical claim, and it does not survive contact with the historical record: people are killed for what others believe about them, for symbolic reasons, out of personal grievance, and by individuals with no coherent motive at all. Nothing about being killed establishes that a person's claims were correct.

Nothing here shows that any person or government had advance knowledge of the assassination or any role in it.
