Condolence Letter Post Dated September 2, 2025
What This Image Shows
This is a dark-mode screenshot of a post by Israel National News - Arutz Sheva, reproducing an official condolence letter. The post text reads: "Israeli Chief Rabbi David Yosef wrote a letter of condolence to the family of #CharlieKirk. 'Many among the Jewish people grieve with you, and remember Charlie as a man who devoted his full heart and soul to making the world a better and more just place.'"
The letter below is on official letterhead identifying David Yosef as "The Rishon Lezion Chief Rabbi of Israel" and "President of the Great Rabbinical Court." Its dateline reads "In the Bible, 9 Elul, 5785 / September 2, 2025," and the body begins: "To the dear family members of Charlie Kirk OBM. With deep sorrow and great pain, I received the devastating news of the murder of Charlie..."
September 2 is eight days before the assassination, which is why this image circulates under a foreknowledge claim. The ordinary explanation should be weighed first and is strong: Hebrew-to-Gregorian conversion errors on letterhead are routine clerical mistakes, the Hebrew date printed is 9 Elul, and the letter was published after the killing rather than before it. No investigating body has authenticated the document or its dateline, and nothing in it indicates that anyone knew anything in advance.
