The Recovered Long Gun Held Upright

Low resolution image of a long gun with a wooden stock and long black barrel held upright by a hand in a blue nitrile glove, red vertical borders on each side

What This Image Shows

A close, low-resolution vertical frame with thin red borders added down the left and right edges by whoever cropped it. A long gun is held upright by a hand in a blue nitrile glove. The stock is wood, the barrel long and black. The background is an out-of-focus interior with scattered light sources.

The crop and the red borders show this was pulled out of a longer clip specifically to argue about the weapon. Everything visible is consistent with a break-barrel air rifle: wooden stock, single long barrel, no visible magazine well or bolt handle. It is equally consistent with several other long guns at this resolution, which is why the product screenshot filed beside it exists.

The comparison being made across this set is with the bolt-action Mauser 98 attributed to the case elsewhere in the investigation. Researchers argue the two are not easily confused in person but were confused in early reporting. The blue glove indicates evidence handling. Nothing here identifies who carried the item or connects it to the shooting. See Pellet Gun Man and Guns and Ballistics.
