Officer Carrying the Long Gun — Annotated
What This Image Shows
A vertical screen capture from a video posted to social media. Several officers in dark uniforms stand outdoors. The frame centers on the lower back and legs of one officer wearing blue nitrile gloves, with a long gun slung across his back or shoulder. A bright green arrow has been hand-drawn pointing down at the buttstock. Interface elements at the edges show a timestamp of 6:40 and a view count of 1.6M, so this frame comes from a widely circulated clip.
The arrow marks the wooden stock. That is the detail researchers were pointing at: a wood-stocked, break-barrel profile rather than the profile of the bolt-action rifle attributed to the case. The blue gloves indicate the item is being handled as evidence.
This is the Provo arrest, made within about an hour of the shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, of an unidentified man reported to be carrying an air rifle. He has never been publicly identified, and no public evidence ties him to the shooting. He is filed under this cluster because of the timing and the weapon confusion, not because of anything established about him. See Pellet Gun Man and Guns and Ballistics.
