What This Image Shows

This was circulated during online attempts to match the white lab coat seen in the UVU detention photographs to a coat worn elsewhere. Posts sharing it carried competing captions about who is pictured — some said the man detained at UVU, others said an associate of his. Neither identification has been confirmed by any reliable on-the-record source, and this site adopts neither.
It belongs in this cluster as an example of how the "patsy" threads get built: a garment in a news photograph, a social-media photograph with a similar garment, arrows drawn between them, and an inference.
