Post Naming a Subject in Custody

A screenshot of a post on X by the verified account Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh), timestamped seven minutes old. The text reads, in full: "BREAKING: Subject in custody in the killing of Charlie Kirk reported as Zachariah Ahmed Qureshi." Below it is the embedded identification portrait filed separately in this cluster — a young man against a plain blue background, staring directly into the lens.
Note the construction of the sentence. The poster writes "reported as," which is a hedge, but the word "BREAKING" and the attached face do the opposite work. A named individual and a photograph reached a large verified audience within minutes, sourced to other reports rather than to any official confirmation.
The man named and pictured was released without charge and was not the shooter. He is a living person who was publicly misidentified during a fast-moving story, and nothing here alleges any wrongdoing by him.
