About This Cluster
This cluster is an annotation exercise. Researchers took a family group photograph and typed names directly over the faces, then set those labelled faces beside close-up crowd frames from the September 10, 2025 event to test whether the same young men appear in both. The cluster name comes from the distinctive hat worn by one of the subjects, which is how the file has been indexing this particular face-matching thread. No one pictured has been accused of anything.
The three images work as a sequence. The first is the annotated group shot — nine people on a carpeted staircase in a suburban entryway, with the words "Kid," "VanKacye," "Brett" and "Blake" laid across the frame in heavy black type. The second is a tight vertical crop of a young man with dark curly hair, mouth open mid-sentence, wearing a two-tone cap embroidered "MARSEILLE," "EST. 600 BC" and "FRENCH RIVIERA" — that hat is the identifying marker the cluster is named for. The third is a close crop of a curly-haired teenager in a red shirt in what looks like stadium seating. The labels are the researcher's own and have not been independently verified.
The value of this set is narrow and specific: a distinctive piece of clothing is one of the few reliable ways to track an unnamed person across separate photographs. What it cannot do is tell you who that person is or why he matters. Read it alongside Blake Bednarz and Dustin Bednarz, which are part of the same identification effort, and see People for the profiles that came out of it.
