A graphic reproducing the transcript of a television news segment, laid out in colour-blocked speech containers, one per speaker: correspondent Lavandera, a police dispatcher, construction worker Dylan Hope, an unidentified male voice and the FBI Special Agent in Charge for Utah, Robert Bohls.
The transcript is the content. The dispatcher's description of the possible gunman reads: "Wearing all black, black long gun, black tactical helmet, a black mask, possibly wearing a tactical vest and jeans." The correspondent then explains that a man matching that description approached a crew at a nearby job site, and Hope describes him: "He had black sunglasses. He had a black COVID mask... He had a black trench coat, black cargo pants, and he was wearing a small backpack. And he also had long, greasy black hair. The guy said someone's been shot." Asked whether he now thinks that person was the shooter, Hope answers that the man was already trying to leave, and that when the sheriff later showed the crew a photograph, "the excavator said that it matched." The segment also notes the FBI released images of a person of interest with a reward of up to 100,000 dollars, and an unidentified voice says, "There's somebody on the roof."
This is the single most-cited piece of witness material in the alternative-suspect thread, because the description Hope gives — trench coat, mask, long dark hair — does not match the man later charged, and because Hope has said elsewhere that the photograph officers showed the crew did not appear to be the one the FBI published to the public the following day. That is a witness's recollection, reported by national media; it is not proof of anyone's identity or involvement.
