Military Backgrounds Slide: McCoy and Turek
What This Image Shows
A research graphic on a muted olive-green background, watermarked X @THEINTELSCIF. At the upper left is a video still of a young man with curly light-brown hair speaking into a studio microphone; beside it a square portrait of a smiling middle-aged man in a white collared shirt against blurred greenery.
The bullet text is the content. Under Pastor Rob McCoy: "Father was Naval Captain Roy Edgar McCoy" and "Father was also the assistant chief of staff for psychological warfare in the Navy" — that second line is boxed in red and underlined by the graphic's maker. Under Frank Turek: "Former Officer in the U.S. Navy before turning to Christian Apologetics" and "Has two sons in the military, as well as one of their spouses."
The argument being made is one of pattern: that people in the orbit of Turning Point USA and its faith programming have military and naval backgrounds in their families. Military service is honourable, extremely common, and not evidence of anything, and a parent's assignment says nothing about a son. None of the men named here has been accused of wrongdoing by any court, and none is accused of any here. See Rob McCoy, Frank Turek and TPUSA.
