Vehicles With Open Trunks by the Water Feature
What This Image Shows
A medium-wide, eye-level frame of a public gathering under the concrete overpass beside the water. Onlookers cluster in the foreground with their backs to the lens, facing a speaker in a blue shirt standing next to several vehicles with their trunks open. Behind them the turquoise campus water feature, pedestrian paths and the branded white event tents are visible. Sponsor lettering including YREFY is legible.
Two things worth noting. The first is again the open trunks - multiple vehicles, tailgates up, in the same covered strip. The second is the vantage: this frame ties the vehicle positions to the fixed campus landmarks, the water feature and the tents, which is what allows other frames to be located on the map.
Placing each frame against known landmarks is the unglamorous work that any serious reconstruction depends on. The 3D reconstructions circulating among researchers, which test several proposed firing positions against sight lines and sound timing, are built from exactly this kind of anchoring.
