When Tyler Robinson was actually taken into custody is not a housekeeping detail — it decides whether the most-quoted piece of evidence in the case is even possible. The public account describes a voluntary surrender at the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Hurricane, Utah on the evening of September 11, 2025, arranged after a family friend and retired detective called the sheriff at about 8:02 p.m., with custody formalized around 10 p.m. and transport north to the Utah County Jail overnight. Against that, attorney Baron Coleman has argued from a defense-filed motion referencing a Bates-stamped video at a 6:25 p.m. timestamp that Robinson was already being read his rights, and that the booking sheet records an arrest date of September 11 at 10 p.m. by an officer who would have had to leave northern Utah hours earlier to be there.

The two images here are the primary artifacts of that argument: a screenshot of the probable cause statement and arrest affidavit as displayed in a mobile browser, and an explainer graphic pairing a portrait with cropped Discord messages and text asserting that the confession message is authentic and that the 6:25 p.m. Miranda reading places Robinson in custody before it. Coleman's reading is that a Miranda warning at 6:25 p.m. on September 11 falls roughly ninety minutes before the Discord post attributed to Robinson's account, and that a detainee who says he thinks his lawyer's office is closed for the night rather than for the weekend is speaking on a Thursday. Everything in the preceding sentence is his argument from a document, not a court finding, and an investigative-hold explanation has been offered in response. What is not in dispute is that the paperwork itself contains times that people are reading in incompatible ways.
