This frame is the one researchers reach for when arguing about volume. The claim set out in the investigation record is that the pack seen here reads as roughly 90 to 95 percent full while the light blue JanSport carried from the campus parking lot that morning reads as roughly half empty, and that the transaction the state describes — shorts and light shoes in, jeans and dark clothing out — should have left the pack emptier, not fuller. The further argument is that a 22-year-old would not swap one backpack for another mid-morning.
