A high-angle camera still of a campus parking lot on a sunny day, a grassy tree-lined hill behind it, with a yellow hand-drawn circle around a thin vertical light pole in the midground. Immediately to the left of the pole there is visible digital smudging in the image.

The smudging is why the frame was circled and kept. Researchers examining released campus footage have flagged areas that appear altered, blurred or degraded, and have asked what was obscured and by whom. This site records a parallel example elsewhere in the investigation, where a photograph of an SUV taken to the hospital appeared to have blurred windows. Whether an artifact is compression, a redaction, or something else cannot be determined from a re-shared still.
