What This Image Shows

A ceiling-mounted camera looks down on a young man standing at a low counter inside a commercial interior with tan and brown tiled flooring. He glances over his shoulder to the right, a small cup in one hand and the other hand resting on a red rectangular box on the counter. The image is presented inside a pale green decorative border carrying the signature Candace, the presentation used by the commentator who circulated it.

This is the frame behind the 6:38 p.m. claim. Investigation records note a reported CCTV sighting at a Dairy Queen in Orem at that time on September 10, 2025, roughly six hours after the shooting, and the accompanying X post describes the subject as calm and dressed in a maroon shirt, blue jeans, a hat and sunglasses. The route map filed in this cluster puts that location about 15 to 17 minutes from campus.

The identification of the person in this still is the claim of the person who released it, not a determination by any agency, and readers on X immediately questioned the lighting and shadows in it. What it does raise, if it is genuine, is the travel question: a 6:38 p.m. presence in Orem has to be reconciled with a surrender in Washington County more than 250 miles south the following evening. See Travel, Surrender and Timeline.
