Official Suspect Description From the Affidavit
What This Image Shows
This is the single most important paragraph in the public case file, reproduced verbatim from the charging affidavit. It states that reviewing the surveillance cameras, investigators observed an individual on the rooftop of the Losee Center building on the UVU campus at the time of the shooting, and that the unidentified individual will thereafter be referred to as Suspect.
The description then reads that Suspect appears to be a white male with dark colored hair, wearing a dark colored hat, sunglasses, a long sleeve black shirt with a picture of an American flag and an eagle printed on the shirt, dark colored jeans, and white or gray shoes with white shoelaces that appear consistent with Chuck Taylor or Converse style shoes, and is carrying a dark colored backpack. It adds that Suspect walks with a distinctive gait — a stiff right leg at a relatively slow pace, with the ability to bend the right leg appearing restricted — and that investigators tracked Suspect's movements on the UVU campus starting at approximately 1150 hours on 9/10/2025.
Every identification argument in this section is measured against this text. The word unidentified is doing real work: the affidavit describes a figure on camera, and connecting that figure to a named person is a separate step that the state must prove and that Tyler Robinson's defense contests. The stiff right leg is the detail researchers return to most, because the rooftop sequence is described elsewhere as showing the limp no longer noticeable. Read it against Clothing, Stairs and Walking, and against the written analysis at Stairs Guy and Stairs Guy Identity Gap.
