What This Image Shows
This wide shot was taken from indoors, through a glass window, looking out at the packed courtyard at Utah Valley University before the shooting. Hundreds of people fill the lower half of the frame in casual summer clothing, with a modern glass-and-steel campus building, green trees, blue sky and a distant mountain peak behind them. A red arrow has been drawn diagonally down from the upper center toward the roofline of the building in the background.
The arrow is pointing at the position that matters. The charging documents describe the shot as fired from the roof of the Losee Center at about 12:23 p.m. on September 10, 2025, roughly 430 feet from the courtyard, with the suspect then standing, running north and dropping to the grass below. What this frame contributes is the crowd's-eye view: it shows how much of the roofline was in plain sight of a large audience, which is the practical basis for every question about who could have seen someone up there and why no one is recorded as having done so.
