View From the Rooftop Firing Position

What This Image Shows​

This photograph is taken from the position that matters most in the entire case: the gravel roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University, looking out over the courtyard where Charlie Kirk was speaking on September 10, 2025. In the foreground the gravel ballast fills the lower third of the frame, and near the center-right a small rectangular white object lies surrounded by several small orange marker flags pressed into the stones. A thin red line has been drawn digitally from one of those flags across the frame to the small white tent in the plaza below. Campus signage reading UVU and A PLACE FOR YOU is visible in the scene.

The charging documents place the firing position roughly 430 feet, about 130 meters, from the courtyard, and describe the shot as fired at about 12:23 p.m. This image is the closest a reader can get to standing where the state says the shooter lay, and it is the reference frame for every argument about trajectory, distance and sightline that follows. The orange flags mark points investigators or photographers treated as significant on the roof surface; the red line is an overlay drawn by whoever prepared the image, indicating a claimed line of fire rather than a surveyed measurement.
