Three-Panel Comparison: Stills and Portrait
Next Image
What This Image Shows
A three-panel composite: two high-angle stairwell surveillance stills on the left showing a figure in a long-sleeved black graphic shirt, blue jeans and a cap, and a clear close-up photograph on the right.
This is the face-comparison format, and it is the format the whole dispute turns on. The charging affidavit is careful to call the person on camera the unidentified individual and to refer to him as Suspect; connecting that figure to a named person is a separate evidentiary step. Researchers who dispute the state's identification argue from build, backpack fill, cap style and gait rather than from face, precisely because the surveillance resolution does not support facial comparison.
Side-by-side layouts invite readers to conclude more than the images can support, in either direction. Read the affidavit's own description at Description Law Enforcement, then Stairs Guy and Stairs Guy Identity Gap.
