What This Image Shows​

A medium-wide, slightly elevated frame of masonry workers paving the walkway beside the modern building. Seven are clustered at the left and centre, actively laying stones; an eighth works alone further away at the right. Bright sunlight, hard shadows, concrete architecture and manicured lawn.

Together with the other paving frames in this cluster this gives a fuller picture of the operation - crew size, spread, and how much ground was being covered at once.

The scale is the point. This was not a patch repair. A crew of this size resurfacing this much ground, on the schedule described in the contractor accounts, is what researchers mean when they say the site was altered rather than merely tidied.
