Dating the Ground-Side Roof-Jumper Video
:::caution An open provenance question, not a finding Nobody on this page establishes when the ground-side roof-jumper video was filmed. What is documented here is that its claimed date changed as it circulated, and that at least one account that followed it from the start says so publicly. Treat the date as unresolved. :::

The clip usually called the ground-side roof-jumper video — the view from below of a figure coming off the corner of the Losee Center roof — is one of the most-shared pieces of footage in this case. It is the ground-level counterpart to the enhanced rooftop sequences catalogued under The Roof Jump Without Hesitation and Trained Roof Drop / Egress.
The question this page holds is narrower than any of those, and it comes before all of them: what day was it filmed?
The Claim: The Date Changed As It Spread
@realhonestash (Honest Ash) posted the following on September 8, 2026, reproduced in full:
I remember this story. When the ground-side video of the roof jumper first came out, it was claimed to be from before 9/10. Now it's all over as being from 9/10.
I was shocked when @RealCandaceO shared it not long ago as being filmed on 9/10. Is the source of the video still available?
That is an attributed recollection from an account that has been circulating scene footage since the first week, not a documentary finding. But it is a specific, checkable assertion with two parts: that the video's first attribution was to a date before September 10, 2025, and that its current attribution is to September 10 itself. Both cannot be right.
The second half of the post — "Is the source of the video still available?" — is the part that matters most for anyone trying to settle it. A clip's original upload carries its own date, its own caption, and often its own metadata. Once it has been screen-recorded and re-uploaded a few hundred times, all three are gone. This site has repeatedly found that the original post is the only thing that answers a provenance question, and that originals go missing — see Rooftop Video Reportedly Trimmed (Claims) and the Censorship section.
Why "Before 9/10" Is Not An Idle Alternative
The reason a pre-September-10 date is even plausible is the story shown in the screenshot above.
On September 12, 2025, two days after the assassination, Derrick Evans (@DerrickEvans4WV) posted a report that reached roughly 170,000 views, 2,805 likes and 561 reposts. His post, in full, as he wrote it:
BREAKING: A Utah Valley University (UVU) student contacted the FBI after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
The student reported seeing a man resembling the person of interest near the roof of the Losee Center twice in the weeks before the assassination.
The shooter is believed to have fired a single shot from the roof of the Losee Center, which overlooks the campus courtyard where Charlie Kirk was speaking.
The student says they saw a tall, skinny, dark-haired man in dark clothes on the roof of the Losee Center on two separate occasions.
The most recent sighting was at noon on the Wednesday a week before the shooting.
The student found the man's presence on the roof unusual. A professor attempted to speak with the man, but he was ignored.
After seeing the FBI's photos of a person of interest in connection with the shooting, the student reported the sightings to the FBI tipline.
The student has NOT heard back from the FBI regarding the tip.
This is a second-hand account of an anonymous student's tip, relayed by an X account. Nobody named in it has been identified publicly, and the FBI has not confirmed the tip exists. It is recorded here as a reported claim.
The Text In The Image

The red underline is under that last clause. That is the whole argument of the post compressed into one editing mark: there were reportedly people on that roof on days that were not September 10, so footage of a figure on that roof is not self-evidently footage of the assassination.
The Dates That Would Have To Line Up
| Item | Date | What it would mean |
|---|---|---|
| Assassination | Wednesday, September 10, 2025 | The date the video is now widely captioned with |
| "The Wednesday a week before the shooting" (reported most recent sighting) | Wednesday, September 3, 2025, around noon | A roof figure matching the description, one week early |
| Earlier reported sighting | Unspecified, "twice in the weeks before" | A second pre-event roof presence |
| Derrick Evans post relaying the tip | Friday, September 12, 2025 | Two days after the assassination |
| @realhonestash raising the dating conflict | September 8, 2026 | Roughly a year of circulation later |
If the ground-side video is from September 3, then a large share of the frame-by-frame argument built on it — descent technique, clothing, timing against the shot — is being applied to the wrong day, and the figure in it is not necessarily the figure in the roof timeline at all. If it is from September 10, the pre-event sightings are a separate and still-unanswered matter, and the tip in the screenshot describes a person who was scouting the position in advance.
Either answer is significant. The one thing that is not available is the ability to skip the question, which is what a caption does when it asserts the date without the source.
What Would Actually Settle It
- Recovering the original upload. The first public post of the ground-side clip, with its own timestamp and caption. This is what @realhonestash is asking for.
- Sun angle and shadow direction in the footage, compared against the courtyard geometry — a noon September 3 shadow and a 12:23 PM September 10 shadow are close but not identical.
- Foliage, signage, and construction state at 785 College Dr and the surrounding campus, which changed across those weeks.
- The UVU camera record, which would show whether a figure was on the Losee roof on September 3 at noon at all — material the Fix laws are written to force out.
- Whether the FBI ever worked the tip. The student reportedly never heard back. See FBI Blocking Investigations.
None of these have been done publicly. Until one of them is, the correct description of this clip's date is disputed, and this site labels it that way.
