The memo
Per accounts compiled in the investigation, on September 2, 2025, Charlie Kirk sent an internal memo that named Justin Streiff as the new Chief Operating Officer of TPUSA. The same memo reportedly announced the DOGE-style internal audit. Some investigator accounts (e.g., George Webb) go further and frame the change as Kirk moving long-time COO Tyler Bowyer out of that operational role — Webb wrote that Kirk was "killed eight days after he moved Bowyer out for not doing the DOGE outside audit."
The precise nature of the change — a straightforward appointment versus a removal — is not settled in public records. What the accounts agree on is the date (Sept 2) and the pairing of a new COO with an audit announcement.
Why the timing draws scrutiny
The memo lands inside a tight, much-discussed window:
- September 2, 2025 — reported memo: new COO + DOGE-style audit.
- September 10, 2025 — Charlie Kirk is assassinated at UVU.
- ~One week later — Erika Kirk is named CEO of Turning Point.
Investigators note that a founder reorganizing operations and launching a financial review, then dying eight days later, is a sequence worth examining. Sequence is not causation — no evidence establishes that the leadership change was connected to the assassination.
Who's who
- Justin Streiff — named new COO in the reported memo. Separately, Candace Owens has alleged Streiff had a phone call shortly after the shooting; that claim is covered on his profile and is unproven.
- Tyler Bowyer — the prior COO of Turning Point Action / TPUSA, reportedly affected by the change.
