Shooting Time Disputes (12:23 vs 12:27 MDT)
This timeline covers one clock face: the minute the shot was fired at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, and every competing timestamp that has been attached to it. All times are Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) unless marked otherwise. Enter here if you want to see exactly where 12:23:30, 12:26 and 12:27 each came from, and what each one does to the roof-egress window and the death-pronouncement arithmetic downstream.
The Timeline
Morning — the clocks that were already running
-
~8:23 AM — A neighborhood WYZE camera logs a vehicle on W 880 S, the first of the residential-camera timestamps that later anchor the pre-shot campus movement reconstruction attributed to Tyler Robinson, who is charged and not convicted.
-
~8:29 AM — UVU campus surveillance picks up the same driving sequence, giving investigators a second independent clock to check against the WYZE device — the kind of cross-check the UVU security and surveillance timeline says has never been published with authenticated timecodes.
-
~9:16 AM — Citizen flight-trackers say the Army-contracted Bombardier N1098L, the aircraft associated with the HADES ISR program, was over the valley on what one thread calls a drone drop-off leg — the opening entry of the N1098L activity timeline that later has to be aligned against whichever shot time you accept.
-
~9:57 AM — A WYZE camera records a figure walking on W 880 S; the camera-sightings page notes a clothing change to jeans and a long-sleeved shirt between this sighting and the next.
-
~11:44–11:49 AM — Ring doorbell cameras on W 800 S and S 800 W log the last pre-shot residential sightings, closing the morning window used in roof-jumping feasibility arguments and in the clothing-change claim.
-
~11:47 AM — Trackers log N1098L descending to roughly 600 feet AGL near Utah Lake, about 36 minutes before the video-anchored shot — one of the low-pass timing claims that only reads as "minutes before" if 12:23 is correct.
-
11:22 AM – 12:12 PM (citizen clock) — A Project Constitution GoPro recording circulated with continuous timestamps from a 11:22 AM bike arrival through 12:12 PM, ending about eleven minutes before the video-anchored shot. It is a fourth independent public clock for the morning, useful only if its device time is ever checked against the campus system.
-
~11:52 AM (reported) — Early TMZ / police-framing summaries circulated by @OliLondonTV placed the charged person's campus arrival at about 11:52 AM, two to three minutes after the last Ring sighting at 11:49 — useful as a pre-shot police stamp even though it is not a shot-time source. Charged, not convicted.
12:15–12:22 PM — roof approach clocks (prelim + early graphics)
-
~12:15 PM MDT (prelim testimony, reported) — According to citizen re-tellings of investigator testimony in the July 2026 preliminary hearing (summarized by @Recklesstruth00 and related threads), a figure identified by the State as the charged man was described walking on the Losee roof around this time before later prone positioning. Not a court finding of guilt; Robinson remains charged, not convicted.
-
12:20 PM MDT (early graphic, disputed) — An early Sept 12, 2025 subject-timeline graphic circulated by @MJTruthUltra listed "12:20 Shot fired" and "12:23 SJ jumping off building," conflicting with the later 12:23:30 consensus. Preserved here as an early alternate stamp, not as settled fact.
-
12:21–12:22 PM MDT (court video, reported) — Per @EricLDaugh courtroom reporting of Jack Posobiec's description, enhanced roof surveillance played at the preliminary hearing showed timestamp progression into position at ~12:21–12:22 before the 12:23 shot ("you see him take the shot… 12-21, 12-22… don't get to 12-23" framing of the approach). This is courtroom reporting of a video exhibit, not a conviction.
-
12:22 PM — Per the charging narrative summarized on Tyler Robinson's day-of page, a figure stands, crosses the Losee Center roof to the west side and lies prone facing the courtyard, roughly 430 feet from the stage. Citizen critics of the Hull/investigator timeline argue ~90 seconds from prone to a long-range shot is implausible under adrenaline; that is a feasibility argument, not a finding.
-
12:22:08–12:22:12 PM MDT (citizen claim) — @AngelaBethMoore posts stills claiming Frank Turek executed a 360° phone pan of the crowd less than a minute before impact; significance is disputed and is an open question about recording orientation, not an allegation of wrongdoing.
12:23 PM — the disputed minute
-
12:23:00 PM — The state's account places a single shot fired from the Losee roof; this is the minute used by the affidavit summarized on the probable-cause page.
-
12:23:30 PM — The investigation file's settled figure for the exact moment of impact, converted as 18:23:00 UTC, and the zero point of the minute-by-minute reconstruction. Every other second-count on this site is measured from here. Citizen reconstructions (notably @BasedSamParker, Dec 2025) anchor their full evacuation clock at this zero.
-
12:23:28–12:23:30 PM (disputed visual) — @DailyPlanetoid and others claim CourtTV-captured roof footage shows a second moving figure near the shot second before an angle cut; the State focuses on a single roof figure. Unverified visual interpretation of grainy surveillance — see also roof-jumping timeline and Proof Not Tyler.
-
12:23:29 – 12:23:54 — Four surveillance stills carry these embedded timestamps and trace movement from the firing position to the northeast corner of the Losee Center; the cameras section treats the stills as the closest thing to a public timecode, while Proof Not Tyler argues they have never been released as continuous footage.
-
12:23:30 PM (00:00) — In the same second, Mikey McCoy is described as calling his wife — a call the witness-testimony discrepancies page flags because Erika Kirk and Blake Neff give accounts that do not reconcile with what the frame shows.
-
12:23:48 PM (00:18) — Security begins to move Charlie Kirk, the first physical event that can be counted off the video clock rather than off a report.
-
12:23:52 PM (00:22, alternate micro-stamp) — @BasedSamParker later cites load-start at 12:23:52 (32 seconds post-shot), slightly earlier than the page's common 12:24:01 load stamp — a micro-timing conflict, not a different shot time.
-
12:23:57 PM (00:27) — Terryl Farnsworth is already in position on the rock pile filming, per the ten minutes after the shot reconstruction and the rock-pile claim page.
12:24 PM — the first minute after
-
12:24:01 PM (00:31) — Kirk is loaded into the black SUV; the vehicle itself became its own dispute, documented on the SUV destruction page and in the discovery and evidence timeline.
-
12:24:03 PM (00:33) — Mikey McCoy is seen well past the SUV without Blake Neff in frame — the McCoy alone in frame conflict, and the specific frame that drives the witness discrepancy argument.
-
12:24:12 PM (00:42) — Frank Turek gets into the SUV; his later on-record hospital timing is the anchor that makes the afternoon aircraft arithmetic contested.
-
~12:24 PM — On the roof, per the state summary on Tyler Robinson's shooting page, a dark-wrapped item is placed down and the figure lowers to the grass — the egress step whose feasibility inside a single minute is the whole subject of the roof-jumping timeline.
-
12:24:22 PM (00:52) — Farnsworth is recorded saying "They just shot Charlie." The SD cards and cameras removed from the scene question begins in this same untimed stretch.
-
12:24:13 – 12:24:35 PM (00:43–01:05) — The SUV departs for the hospital without an ambulance — an omission tracked on the six officers, no ambulance page.
-
12:24:36 PM (01:06) — Farnsworth is recorded saying "He's dead" — roughly 66 seconds after the video-anchored shot, and about 39 minutes before the arithmetic below places a surgeon's pronouncement.
-
~12:24 PM — One reading of the tracking data puts a second N1098L low pass at about 335 feet AGL here; a competing reading puts it at 12:48 PM, and the low-pass timing page does not resolve which.
12:26–12:27 PM — the dispatch clock and the orphan timestamp
-
12:26 PM — Per police audio, the first report of the shooting comes in. This is a call-received time, not an impact time, and the first police report gap page argues the two are routinely conflated in later summaries. Contemporaneous @SLCScanner write-ups also fixed the incident "around 12:23 p.m. local time," consistent with the video consensus rather than the orphan 12:27.
-
12:26 PM — Mikey McCoy is described as three-waying in Erika Kirk — the dispatch and scanner timeline carries the radio side of the same two minutes — a call sequence the Erika Kirk timeline tracks separately.
-
Notification order (citizen claim, ~12:23–12:35) — @NihiloX argues Ben Shapiro received real-time condition updates from the transport chain before Erika Kirk was fully connected at ~12:26. @LibertyLockPod and @BasedSamParker challenge the latency math against a roughly 10-minute hospital run, arguing any "security update" claim before ~12:33 MT should be timestamp-proved. Attribution only — not established fact; living persons are not accused of wrongdoing by this site.
-
12:27 PM — The disputed alternative shot time. It appears in parentheses in the investigation file and in some secondary media summaries, but no outlet, dispatch log, or document has ever been named as its source — the reason the shot-time claim page rates it THIN rather than treating it as a live official conflict. Some low-engagement posts also float 12:24 as a shot time; that reading is usually a conflation with the first post-shot minute rather than a primary source.
-
12:27 PM MST — A separate and unrelated 12:27 sits in the same day's record: the Scottsdale departure of the aircraft N40JD. Time-zone collisions like this are exactly the mechanism critics cite when they argue plane-overlap claims rest on UTC-versus-local errors.
After — the death-pronouncement arithmetic
-
12:29–12:35 PM (estimated) — Kirk reportedly arrives at Timpanogos Regional Hospital; the medical and death timeline notes the choice of a Level IV trauma center over the closer, higher-capability alternative, argued at trauma center bypassed.
-
~12:42 PM MDT — According to screenshots shared by @ZachCostello_, UVU student alerts announced a suspect "in custody" less than 20 minutes after the shot; a later alert reportedly warned the shooter had not been found (~+69 minutes). Early false-custody clock relative to 12:23 — see UVU security and surveillance and distraction events.
-
~12:56 PM – 1:13 PM — A citizen reconstruction adds the segments (1 minute to leave, 7–10 minutes to drive, 5–10 minutes to unload and reach the OR, 20–30 minutes in the OR) and lands on this window as the earliest possible pronouncement of death. The same reconstruction claims a Jerusalem Post death announcement published before that window closed — a sequencing claim examined at the OR timeline versus the Jerusalem Post and tracked on the Israel events timeline. Commentators sharpen the math as JPost stamp 21:54 Israel time = 12:54 MT, roughly 31 minutes after a 12:23 shot ("before any U.S. outlet" claim per @JohnBWellsCTM) — media-timing claim only, not proof of foreign involvement.
-
~1:03:30 PM — The midpoint of that arithmetic, quoted in the file as the moment a surgeon came out and pronounced him deceased. It is a derived time, not a released record; the certificate itself remains among the items on the autopsy and forensic timeline and the sealed autopsy page.
-
~5:42 PM MDT — @SLCScanner contemporaneous radio traffic reported a weapon recovered on campus across from the Losee Building — the Mauser .30-06 of the official narrative (day-of recovery clock, not shot time). Scanner accuracy is not guaranteed, and the rifle chain of custody starts from this stamp.
-
~8:12 PM — Some citizen compilations instead cite this evening time as the pronouncement, in one framing "at the scene." It is irreconcilable with the hospital-transport sequence above and is preserved here as a conflicting compilation entry, not as a finding — see the autopsy and death-certificate claim page.
-
~7:12 PM (disputed) — The investigation file also carries an evening departure for the jet N888KG leaving Provo, described elsewhere in the same file as "45 minutes" and "one hour" after the shot. Those descriptors point to the early afternoon, not the evening, which is why the N888KG page and the other-planes timeline flag 7:12 PM as an internal inconsistency.
Later — how the times hardened
-
Sept 11, 2025 — 6:25 PM — A Washington County video exhibit (Bates 003996-R2) timestamps a Miranda reading, per the defense filing summarized on the Miranda hub — a clock that collides with the official custody narrative.
-
Sept 11, 2025 — 8:02 PM — Sheriff Nate Brooksby states he received the identifying call at this time, an account the Miranda-versus-Brooksby page sets against the 6:25 PM stamp; he later resigned.
-
Sept 11, 2025 — ~9 PM / 10 PM — Surrender and booking times diverge between the sheriff's account and FBI Director Kash Patel's public "arrest at 10 p.m." framing, per the Patel press briefings, the Kash Patel manhunt timeline and the Sept 11 surrender page.
-
Nov 17, 2025 — Candace Owens publishes the "Operation Mocking-Plane" episode, pushing the day's timing questions — airport diversion, flight overlaps — into wider circulation, as tracked on the Candace Owens timeline.
-
July 2026 hearings — The preliminary hearing (about five court days ending ~July 10) presented enhanced roof video with continuous on-screen times through 12:21–12:23 and investigator testimony placing a roof walk earlier (~12:15) and prone at ~12:22. The preliminary hearing pages and Timeline 2026 still record no publicly released master slate synchronizing campus cameras, livestream and dispatch onto one continuous timecode.
Conflicts and Disputed Points
| Point | Version A | Version B | Who asserts what |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shot time | 12:23:30 PM — video-anchored, used by the file's own second-by-second reconstruction | 12:27 PM — appears in parentheses and in some media summaries; early graphics also floated 12:20 | Version A: citizen multi-cam sync work and the state's affidavit summary. Version B: no named source for 12:27 — the claim page could not trace it; 12:20 is a Sept 12 subject-timeline graphic only |
| What 12:26 means | First dispatch report received | Quoted in some briefings as if it were the shot time | Police audio gives it as a call-received stamp; the conflation is a media artifact per first police report gap |
| Roof approach slate | Affidavit-style 12:22 prone / 12:23 shot | Prelim video/testimony reported as 12:15 walk → 12:21–12:22 position → 12:23 shot | Courtroom reporting vs charging narrative; see 2026 and roof-jumping |
| Roof figures at shot second | Single State-identified roof figure | Second moving figure / angle cut near 12:23:28 (@DailyPlanetoid et al.) | Unverified visual interpretation of CourtTV stream |
| Roof egress feasibility | At 12:23 the figure is already leaving the roof, which excludes 12:27 | At 12:27 the roof sequence would have to compress further | The file resolves this by movement, not by authority — see roof-jumping timeline |
| Load micro-timing | 12:24:01 common reconstruction | 12:23:52 (@BasedSamParker later stamp) | Same evacuation clock; second-count disagreement |
| Notification order | Erika fully looped via McCoy three-way ~12:26 | Shapiro allegedly updated from transport chain before Erika | @NihiloX claim vs latency challenges (@LibertyLockPod / @BasedSamParker); living persons — attribution only |
| UVU student alerts ~12:42 | "Suspect in custody" within ~20 min of shot | Later reverse: shooter not found | Screenshots via @ZachCostello_; campus-alert chronology |
| N1098L second pass | ~12:24 PM, about a minute after the shot | ~12:48 PM, about 25 minutes after | Both readings circulate in flight-tracking threads; low-pass timing does not settle it |
| Death pronouncement | ~1:03 PM, derived from transport-plus-OR arithmetic | ~8:12 PM, cited by some compilations | Version A is a citizen calculation; Version B appears in a compilation with no released certificate behind it |
| N888KG departure | ~1:11–1:20 PM ("45 minutes to an hour after") | ~7:12 PM as written in the master file | The N888KG page treats the afternoon times as the internally consistent account |
Open Questions
- Which specific outlet, log, or broadcast first published 12:27 PM, and does that source still exist to be examined?
- Has any authority released a master slate synchronizing UVU cameras, the livestream audio, and dispatch onto one continuous timecode?
- What is the clock drift on each recording device — WYZE, Ring, campus CCTV, livestream, body cameras — and was any of it ever measured?
- What time does the death certificate state, and does it match the ~1:03 PM arithmetic or the ~8:12 PM compilation figure?
- Does the raw Carbyne 911 / dispatch record contain a call earlier than 12:26 PM that never reached the public summaries?
- Do the tracking archives place the second N1098L low pass at 12:24 or 12:48, and does the answer change the low-pass interpretation?
Laws (Charlie Kirk)
- The unedited UVU camera files with embedded and authenticated timecodes, the raw 911 and Carbyne dispatch logs with clock-synchronization records, the sealed autopsy and the death-certificate timing, the original livestream master audio, and the unredacted flight-tracking archives for aircraft over Utah Valley that day are things that the Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws may result in powerful truths coming out that aren't out yet.
