September 8, 2025

  • Charlie Kirk posts publicly about distancing from the pro-Israel movement.

September 9, 2025

  • Kirk attends a contentious meeting. During or after, Kirk reportedly texts associates: "They are going to kill me."

September 10, 2025

Before the shooting

  • 7:08 AM: Plane tail SU-BTT (Egyptian Air Force Gulfstream) departs Utah for Wilmington, DE.
  • 8:07 AM: Ring doorbell camera captures Tyler Robinson walking on S 800 W toward UVU campus, wearing a maroon shirt and light-colored shorts.
  • 8:23 AM: WYZE camera captures Robinson near W 880 S.
  • 8:29 AM: UVU surveillance records Robinson arriving on campus in a gray Dodge Challenger.
  • 9:57 AM: Robinson seen again — outfit has changed to jeans and a long-sleeve shirt.
  • ~11:47 AM: U.S. Army ISR jet N1098L (HADES) reported at low altitude near Utah Lake prior to the shooting (exact minute disputed in sources).
  • 11:44 AM: Ring camera shows Robinson on W 800 S.
  • 11:49 AM: Ring camera shows Robinson walking toward campus again.
  • 11:50 AM: UVU surveillance first captures the Suspect on the north side of campus. Dark hat, sunglasses, black shirt with American flag and eagle graphic, dark jeans, white/gray Chuck Taylor shoes, dark backpack. Distinctive stiff-right-leg gait.
  • 12:02 PM: Suspect enters Losee Center through southeast corner doors.
  • 12:15 PM: Suspect seen walking up stairs toward rooftop area.
  • 12:17 PM: Suspect climbs over a short wall onto the Losee Center rooftop. Crouches down.
  • 12:22 PM: Suspect stands up and runs across the rooftop toward the west edge. Takes prone position.

The shooting

  • 12:23 PM: Charlie Kirk is shot while speaking into a microphone at the UVU courtyard event. Kirk is hit in the neck, falls to his left. Suspect immediately stands and sprints north across the rooftop. Suspect lowers himself off the northeast corner and drops to the grass below.
  • 12:24 PM: Suspect runs north across Campus Drive. Investigators later discover a Mauser Model 98 .30-06 bolt-action rifle wrapped in a dark towel in a wooded area north of campus. Cartridge casings with engraved inscriptions found with the rifle.
  • 12:26 PM: Regional law enforcement receives first reports of the shooting.
  • 12:35 PM: Officer reports suspect description: jeans, black shirt, black mask, long rifle.
  • 12:39 PM: First FBI agents arrive and secure the scene.
  • 12:48 PM: UVU issues campus emergency alert regarding a shot fired toward a visiting speaker.
  • 1:02 PM: President Trump shares news of the shooting on Truth Social.
  • 1:37 PM: UVU closes campus and urges evacuation.
  • 2:01 PM: UVU instructs remaining persons to secure in place.
  • 2:40 PM: President Trump confirms Charlie Kirk's death on Truth Social.
  • 4:00 PM: Governor Spencer Cox holds a press conference calling it a "political assassination."
  • 4:21 PM: FBI Director Kash Patel announces a subject is in custody — premature and incorrect; two unrelated individuals had been briefly detained.
  • 5:59 PM: Kash Patel corrects the earlier statement; detained subject released.
  • 7:59 PM: FBI releases video footage showing the alleged shooter jumping off the rooftop and fleeing campus.
  • ~12:24–12:48 PM: N1098L reportedly executes another low-altitude maneuver after the shot.
  • Evening: Private jet N888KG departs Provo Municipal Airport; ADS-B transponder disabled mid-flight, later reappears before returning to PVU.

Kirk is transported to Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem and pronounced deceased.


September 11, 2025

  • 6:00 AM: President Trump appears on Fox & Friends, stating "with a high degree of certainty" that Kirk's suspected killer is in custody. (Robinson has not yet surrendered.)
  • 7:00 AM: Officials announce overnight forensic breakthroughs: the Mauser .30-06 rifle, footwear impressions, palm print, and forearm impression recovered.
  • 7:15 AM: Robinson's gray Dodge Challenger appears on surveillance at a Maverik gas station in Cedar City, Utah — ~215 miles south of Orem, on the route to Washington County. Robinson pays by credit card and drives away within 3 minutes.
  • 9:58 AM: FBI Salt Lake City publicly releases first two photos of the person of interest.
  • 10:44 AM: FBI announces a $100,000 reward for information.
  • 6:17 PM: FBI releases additional photos of the person of interest.
  • 6:25 PM: Tyler Robinson is read his Miranda rights by law enforcement. Robinson acknowledges each right with an affirmative response ("Mm-hmm"). When asked to proceed with questioning, Robinson invokes his right to counsel: "I would like to speak with my legal counsel. I'm hoping for a fellow in Utah named Doug Terry."   • 6:26 PM: Robinson states the attorney's office is closed for the night and invokes right to remain silent: "Until I've had the opportunity to speak with someone, I would like to remain silent."
  • 7:30 PM: Press conference with Governor Cox: over 7,000 tips received, nearly 200 completed interviews. Suspect photos and surveillance video shown publicly.
  • 7:45 PM (approx.): Air Force Two carrying Charlie Kirk's casket lands at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Widow Erika Kirk, VP JD Vance, and Second Lady Usha Vance aboard.
  • 7:57 PM: Discord messages allegedly posted by Tyler Robinson under username zealous_moneky_55095: "Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. Im sorry for all of this. Im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments." and "thanks for all the good times and laughs." — approximately 1.5 hours after the 6:25 PM Mirandizing.
  • 8:02–8:04 PM: Washington County Sheriff Brooksby receives a call from a retired detective family friend: "I know who the Charlie Kirk shooter is. He's in Washington County now, and we're working on trying to get him to come in voluntarily."
  • ~9:50 PM: Robinson, his father, and the retired detective drive to the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Hurricane, Utah.
  • 10:00 PM: Utah County booking sheet records Robinson's arrest time as approximately 10:00 PM. FBI states custody time was "around 10 PM."
  • 10:26 PM: Tyler Robinson arrives at the Washington County Sheriff's Office accompanied by his parents. Placed uncuffed on a couch with his parents, given water. Not questioned for approximately 2.5 hours while lead investigators travel from Utah County.
  • Evening: SU-BTT departs the U.S. to Egypt — one day after the assassination.

September 12, 2025

  • ~12:30 AM: After approximately 2.5 hours at the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Robinson is transferred to FBI custody. Utah County investigators (including Officer Brian Davis) have made the approximately 3.25–4 hour drive from Utah County.
  • 4:00 AM: Official arrest time per Utah County booking sheet. Robinson booked at Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, Utah. Charges: Aggravated Murder (F1), Felony Discharge of a Firearm Causing Serious Bodily Injury (F1), Obstruction of Justice (F2). Held without bail.
  • 7:18 AM: Probable Cause formally entered by Officer Brian Davis (Utah AG, UTBDAVIS). Probable Cause ID: 189904.
  • Morning: Utah State Bureau of Investigation issues a request for records from Discord relating to Robinson's username and chat history.
  • 5:00 PM: Utah County official press release issued announcing Robinson's arrest, stating formal charges would be filed by noon September 16.

September 13, 2025

  • Public reporting on the arrest continues. No major new law enforcement developments publicly confirmed on this date in available sources.
  • Ongoing national media coverage of the assassination and Robinson's arrest.
