Tyler Robinson Timeline

Best understanding of when this happened

Best understanding: public Robinson timeline claims concentrate in SEPT 8–13, with heavy mass on day-of (SEPT 10) and surrender chain (SEPT 11). Chart is that week only.

Date range (working model): SEPT 8–13 · Day-of + surrender neighborhood

The chart below is not a government finding. Bar height is relative likelihood from public claims. Domain is trimmed to non-trivial likelihood.

tyler_robinson_sept8_13 — likelihood timeline

This is the master chronology hub for Tyler Robinson across the Charlie Kirk case: what the charging documents say he did, what the surveillance record is said to show, and where the custody and confession sequence stops making internal sense. Level 4 sub-pages carry the hour-by-hour detail. All times are Mountain Time (MT).

:::caution Charged, not convicted Tyler Robinson is charged in State of Utah v. Tyler Alexander Robinson, Case No. 251403576, at the Fourth District Court in Provo. He has not been convicted of anything. Every item below sourced to the affidavit or the charging documents is an allegation by the State, not a finding of fact. Every item sourced to citizen research is an unproven claim. He is presumed innocent. :::

The Timeline

Before September 10, 2025

  • Before Sept 10 — Charging documents allege a dinner conversation in the weeks before the shooting in which Robinson discussed Kirk; the pre-event background is collected on Tyler Robinson before the event and his household and relationships on Family and Girlfriend / roommate.

  • Before Sept 10 (claim) — Citizen researchers allege that unusual visitors with out-of-state plates were seen at the residence before September 10. This is an unverified claim from compiled X threads, recorded on the "recruited" question page.

  • Sept 9, 2025 — A high-pressure meeting involving Charlie Kirk, during which Kirk reportedly texted others: "THEY ARE GOING TO KILL ME." (KM-07) This is on Kirk's side of the case, not Robinson's, but it anchors the day before — see the September 9 meeting page and the text itself.

September 10, 2025 — day of the shooting

Camera sightings below are broken down by device on Surveillance Cameras: Ring, WYZE, UVU surveillance, with the full list on Tyler on Surveillance Cameras.

  • 7:08 AMSU-BTT, an Egyptian Air Force Gulfstream, departs Utah for Wilmington — a separate thread carried on the SU-BTT movements timeline.

  • 8:07 AM — Robinson is recorded on a Ring camera on S 800 W in a maroon shirt and light shorts, heading toward campus. The full morning is reconstructed on the pre-shot campus timeline.

  • 8:29 AM — Robinson arrives at UVU in a gray Dodge Challenger. No backpack is visible — a detail central to the backpack-rifle impossibility argument.

  • 9:57 AM — Robinson appears on a WYZE camera; the outfit has changed to jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. The clothing changes across the morning are catalogued on Robinson clothing changes.

  • 11:30 AM (claim) — Citizen research notes a vehicle associated with a local political figure parked at a house on the walking route; the claim, and the caution attached to it, are on the Phil Lyman page.

  • 11:49–11:50 AM — Robinson is recorded on UVU surveillance near Campus Drive in a black eagle-graphic shirt, dark jeans, Chuck Taylors and a dark backpack, with a distinctive stiff right-leg gait. The gait is the single most-argued identification detail in the case.

  • Morning sequence (hearing framing, claimed) — Preliminary-hearing coverage circulating on X (e.g., summaries amplified by @BubbaLostAtSea and court-watch accounts) describes the State’s video package as placing the charged individual on campus multiple times that day — some summaries say four visits — across the Ring / Challenger / WYZE / Campus Drive chain above. Allegations only; charged, not convicted. Camera-by-camera detail: camera sightings timeline.

  • 12:02 PM — Robinson enters the Losee Center through the southeast doors, per the affidavit.

  • 12:15 PM — The affidavit describes him crossing a railing from a public walkway onto the roof — the segment disputed on the stairs-guy identity gap and Stairs Guy.

  • 12:17 PM — He climbs a short wall and crouches on the north side of the roof, per the affidavit; the feasibility argument is on the roof-jumping timeline.

  • 12:22 PM — He runs west across the roof and lies prone at the edge, roughly 430 feet from the stage. Commentators note the limp is no longer visible in this stretch — see roof run, limp disappears.

  • 12:23:30 PMCharlie Kirk is shot in the neck. The State alleges Robinson fired one round from the Losee roof, then stood and ran north. The sixty-six seconds that follow in the courtyard are reconstructed on the minute-by-minute page; a competing 12:27 PM shot time is examined on the shot-time dispute page.

  • 12:24 PM — Per the affidavit, a dark item — a rifle wrapped in a dark towel — is placed on the rooftop; the figure lowers himself to the grass and runs north across Campus Drive into the wooded area. See the post-shot escape timeline and rifle and towel on the roof.

  • 12:35 PM (official account) — A Mauser Model 98 .30-06 bolt-action rifle is reported found wrapped in a dark towel in the wooded area north of campus, with inscribed cartridge casings nearby. See the Mauser page and the weapon page. A competing account places the recovery the next day, after K-9 and officer searches failedthe gun-discovery sequence.

  • 12:39 PMFirst FBI agents arrive on scene — see the FBI involvement timeline.

  • 4:21 PM — FBI Director Kash Patel publicly announces a suspect in custody. This was incorrect — the false-custody news cycles of that afternoon are on the distraction events timeline and Kash Patel's briefings.

  • ~6:00–7:00 PM (claimed) — Neighbor/citizen interviews amplified by @billiewebbb and @brandisiciliani place rifle recovery between 6 PM and 7 PM on September 10 — an intermediate clock between the affidavit’s early-afternoon framing and the “next day after failed K-9” account. Unverified citizen claim only.

  • Evening — Texts attributed to Robinson are cited in the charging documents, including "My dad wants photos of the rifle" and "I had enough of his hatred." Their authentication is contested — see phones and devices in the court record and Cellebrite extractions.

  • ~8:55–9:00 PM (claimed / disputed) — An employee at Cowboy’s Smokehouse in Panguitch, Utah reportedly told media and citizen interviewers he was “100%” certain he served a diner matching Robinson (steak and beers; distinctive voice), with a receipt near 8:55 PM, roughly 3+ hours south of UVU (the receipt itself). Amplification included @HustleBitch_ and others; owner later clarifications, as summarized in secondary commentary, say it was not Robinson and that a circulating receipt was not the tip document given to investigators. Contested travel-timeline data only — see post-shot escape and the competing Dairy Queen Orem placement.

September 11, 2025 — the surrender day

  • 7:15–7:17 AM — The gray Dodge Challenger is captured on surveillance at the Maverik gas station in Cedar City, roughly 215 miles south, on the route toward Washington County. Payment reportedly by credit card. See Travel.

  • 9:58 AM — The FBI releases its first photos of a person of interest — low-resolution stills criticised at the time; see enhanced suspect photos.

  • 10:44 AM — The FBI announces a $100,000 reward.

  • Daytime/evening — Per reporting compiled in the master file, Robinson's parents recognised him in the released photos and persuaded him to come to their residence in Washington City, near St. George. He reportedly expressed fear of a SWAT raid at both the parents' house and his own apartment in St. George.

  • 6:25 PM — Per a Bates-stamped defense exhibit analysed on the Mirandizing page, Robinson is Mirandized, invokes the right to counsel — naming attorney Doug Terry — and invokes the right to remain silent. No questioning occurs. The date on the exhibit is not printed; the September 11 attribution rests on the recorded remark that the lawyer's "office is closed for the night." Defense-side amplifiers (e.g., @SteveCameronPr1) state the prosecution has not disputed the time stamp in public citizen recounts.

  • ~7:00 PM (family-confirm claim) — Citizen reporting amplified by @DiligentDenizen claims family confirmation of a roughly 7 PM turn-in window and immediate phone seizure, placing a third clock between the 6:25 PM Miranda exhibit and the booking sheet’s 10:00 PM arrest stamp. This is a family-sourced citizen-media claim, not a court finding.

  • 7:55 PM — Per an AP-sourced timeline, the FBI states publicly that it is still seeking a "person of interest" and releases photos and rooftop video.

  • 7:57 PM — A Discord post attributed to Robinson reads: "It was me at UVU yesterday. Im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments." If the 6:25 PM Miranda time is correct, this post-dates the invocation of silence by ninety minutes — the core conflict on custody vs Discord confession, the Discord custody timeline, and Discord messages. Version B media framing (e.g., @Liz_Wheeler, July 2026): physical surrender ~9 PM, so Discord is a full hour before body presence at the sheriff’s office; formal arrest may be as late as 4:00 AM September 12.

  • 8:02 PM — A retired Washington County detective, named Mike Mitchell in prosecution inventories and contacted by the family, telephones Sheriff Nate Brooksby to arrange a voluntary surrender. Brooksby later resigned — see the Brooksby resignation page and Miranda vs the Brooksby account. Commenters note “turning himself in ~8:30” language can mean process/call chain, not physical presence (arrived later).

  • ~9:50 PM — Robinson, his father, and the retired detective drive to the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Hurricane, Utah.

  • 10:00 PM — The Utah County inmate booking sheet lists the arrest date as 9/11/2025 at 10:00 PM, with the arresting officer named as Brian Davis of the State Bureau of Investigation. That is a southern-Utah arrest by a northern-Utah officer, and it is the documentary spine of the arrest-time discrepancy. Full document conflicts: Arrest & Affidavit timeline.

  • 10:26 PM — Robinson arrives at the Washington County Sheriff's Office, is placed uncuffed on a couch with his parents, and waits roughly 2.5 hours for Utah County investigators. The Sheriff's Office has stated it did not interview or question him. No surrender footage has been produced — see missing surrender footage and Surrender.

  • After arrival at WCSO (phone, hearing summaries) — Preliminary-hearing coverage states Washington County deputies confiscated Robinson’s phone at the facility after surrender and before Agent Davis / FBI arrival — a chain-of-custody constraint for Discord and text authentication. See phones and devices.

September 12, 2025 — booking

  • ~12:30 AM — Utah County investigators arrive; Robinson is transferred to FBI custody.

  • 4:00 AMFormal arrest and booking at Utah County Jail, Spanish Fork, booking #460956. Charges: Aggravated Murder (1st-degree felony), Felony Discharge of a Firearm (1st-degree felony), Obstruction of Justice (2nd-degree felony). Held without bail.

  • 7:18 AMProbable Cause entered by Officer Brian Davis, Probable Cause ID 189904 — the document analysed on the affidavit page.

  • 5:00 PM — Utah County issues the public press release confirming the arrest.

  • Sept 12 (media / corporate statement) — TMZ-era reporting that Discord denied the platform was leveraged for planning or admitting the killing remains in circulation as a counterpoint to charging exhibits that still present Discord content. Corporate statement versus State exhibits — present as conflict, not resolved fact.

September 16, 2025 — charging

  • Sept 16Formal charges filed. A Notice of Intent to Seek the Death Penalty is filed — six days after the shooting, a speed questioned on the death-notice page.

  • Sept 16 — A Pretrial Protective Order is issued, beginning the sequence of gag and publicity orders documented on gag orders and sealing.

  • Sept 16 — The Affidavit of Probable Cause is submitted by Officer Brian Davis.

Pre-trial, 2025–2026

  • OngoingJudge Tony Graf presides; the defense team has litigated discovery, Miranda, and publicity issues. The preliminary hearing days are logged individually.

  • Ongoing — Discovery disputes over device extractions, Twiggs phone material, and Brady obligations run through discovery and Brady disputes and the discovery/Brady timeline.

  • 2026 — Attorney Baron Coleman publicly argues that Robinson was in Washington County custody well before 6:30 PM on September 11, and that the official "33-hour manhunt" framing cannot be reconciled with the booking sheet. His running commentary is tracked on the Baron Coleman timeline and the fake-confession custody analysis.

  • July 2026 — preliminary hearing (reported) — Public coverage of Agent Brian Davis testimony (amplified by @SteveCameronPr1, @BasedSamParker): he arrived near midnight / ~12:00 AM September 12, conflicting with the booking sheet’s 10:00 PM September 11 stamp in his name. Commentators also note the defense did not cross-examine Davis after testimony covering surrender, roommate materials, Discord, warrants, and physical evidence — significance contested (strategy vs concession). Hearing packages circulating online also emphasize palm/forearm prints alleged on the roof and State video of multiple campus appearances. Robinson remains charged, not convicted. See Arrest & Affidavit and Preliminary Hearing.

  • 2026 (ballistics caveat, reported) — Circulating hearing summaries state the fatal bullet fragment analysis was class-characteristic only / inconclusive as to individualization to the recovered rifle — a hub-level caveat also tracked on audio and mic and ATF fragment.

  • 2026 — Case status: pre-trial proceedings ongoing, capital exposure intact. See Case & Trial and the trial press page.

  • 2026 (parallel-inquiry context) — Former NCTC director Joe Kent has said on the record that his center's parallel review of possible foreign ties to the assassination was ordered to stop because Robinson was in custody — before, he says, those leads had been exhausted.

Open Questions

  1. What is the date stamp on the Bates-marked Miranda video, and why has it not been made public?
  2. How could an officer based in northern Utah effect a 10:00 PM arrest in Washington County unless he departed several hours before the surrender call at 8:02 PM?
  3. Where is the Washington County Sheriff's Office lobby video for the evening of September 11?
  4. What device forensics authenticate the Discord posts and the text messages, and who performed the extractions?
  5. Does any continuous, timecoded footage show the same individual from Campus Drive at 11:50 AM through the roof and back down — or does the chain break?
  6. Why was the death-penalty notice filed within six days, before discovery had substantially begun?
