Arrest, Booking & Probable Cause Affidavit Timeline
This timeline is anchored to paper, not testimony. Four documents describe the same arrest — the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the Utah County inmate booking sheet, the police computer system arrest record, and the charging documents — and they do not agree with each other on when the arrest happened. This page walks the documents in order and marks every interval where they diverge. Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, and every assertion below is an allegation of the State of Utah untested at trial.

The Documents
| Document | Who produced it | What it fixes |
|---|---|---|
| Affidavit of Probable Cause | Agent Brian Davis, Utah State Bureau of Investigation, signed "/S/ Davis, Brian" | The 9/10 surveillance narrative and the basis for charges — full text page |
| Inmate Booking Sheet & PC Statement | Utah County Sheriff's Office, booking #460956 | Arrest date 09/11/2025 10:00 PM, arresting officer Davis |
| Police computer system record | Sworn via Utah Attorney General ORI UT018015A | Arrest date/time 09/12/2025 04:00, PC entered 09/12/2025 07:18 |
| Charging documents / information | Utah County Attorney's Office | Aggravated murder and related counts, filed Sept 16 |
September 10, 2025 — What the Affidavit Asserts
-
~0829 hours — The affidavit states investigators identified Robinson arriving on the UVU campus in a grey Dodge Challenger, in a maroon T-shirt, light shorts, black hat with a white logo, and light shoes.
-
~1150 hours — A UVU surveillance camera "first captured Suspect walking across a grassy area north of Campus Drive at approximately 800 West" — note the affidavit begins its tracked sequence here, more than three hours after the 0829 arrival, with the intervening period unaddressed. Camera-by-camera detail is on Tyler on Surveillance Cameras.
-
~1153 hours — The Suspect "paused at the top of the stairs and pulled out what appeared to be a cellphone from his right pocket," then replaced it — a detail that matters for the cell tower and phone data timeline.
-
~1202 hours — Recorded walking on the north side of the Losee Center and entering through the southeast corner doors.
-
~1215 / 1217 / 1222 hours — The rooftop intervals: up the stairs, over the short wall, then running and going prone near the west edge, with the affidavit itself noting "the notable limp from previous surveillance was absent." These four minutes are unpacked on 10 Minutes Before the Shot.
-
~1223 hours — "Charlie Kirk was shot." The affidavit gives no second-level time, which is the root of the 12:23 versus 12:27 dispute.
-
~1224 hours — The Suspect placed "a dark colored item" on the rooftop, lowered himself to the grass, and ran north across Campus Drive; post-shot movement is on Tyler Robinson Post-Shot Escape.
-
Later — Investigators "discovered a bolt action rifle wrapped in a dark colored towel," a Mauser Model 98 .30-06 with a scope, plus engraved casings and a Converse-consistent shoe impression at the northeast rooftop edge — see Mauser .30-06 Rifle and Wooded Area — Gun Recovery.
September 11, 2025 — The Contested Evening
-
~6:25 PM MDT — A defense filing quotes a video exhibit (Bates 3996-R1/R2) whose timestamp reads 6:25 PM and captures a full Miranda advisement, with Robinson responding that he would like counsel (Doug Terry) and that "my folks are trying to get a hold of him — I think his office is closed for the night." The printed date field is not public on circulated excerpts. Defense-side amplifiers (e.g., @SteveCameronPr1) state the prosecution has not disputed the time stamp in citizen recounts. Analysis on Mirandized September 11 and the Mirandizing timeline.
-
~7:00 PM MDT (family-confirm claim) — Citizen reporting (@DiligentDenizen, May 2026 amplification) claims family confirmation of a roughly 7 PM turn-in window and immediate phone seizure, inserting a third clock between Miranda and the booking sheet’s 10:00 PM arrest stamp. Family-sourced citizen media, not a court finding. Parallel early-custody framing from Baron Coleman argues presence before 7 PM.
-
~7:17–7:58 PM MDT — A second set of stairwell stills was released publicly and a Utah County press conference presented enhanced suspect photos and rooftop video — see Enhanced Suspect Photos and the press conferences timeline.
-
~7:57 PM MDT — The Discord messages attributed to Robinson appear, including the statement that he would be turning himself in. Sequencing dispute remains: Version A — if the 6:25 PM Miranda reading occurred on this date, those messages post-date custody/invocation by roughly ninety minutes (Discord & Custody Timeline; Custody vs Discord Confession). Version B — mainstream-adjacent rebuttal (@Liz_Wheeler, July 2026): physical surrender ~9 PM MT, so Discord is a full hour before body presence; formal arrest may land as late as 4:00 AM September 12.
-
~2004 hours (8:04 PM) — A government document states Sheriff Mike Smith of Utah County received a call from Sheriff Nate Brooksby of Washington County, who had been contacted by former deputy Mike Mitchell, who had been called by Robinson's father. Researchers note Smith is described as physically present at the press conference at that moment — Miranda vs Brooksby Account. Commenter distinction: language about “turning himself in ~8:30” can mean process/call chain, not physical presence (arrived later ~9 PM).
-
~8:30 PM MDT (claim) — A citizen researcher asserts Agent Davis was ordered to fly to St. George around this time, and frames the sequencing as suspicious. This is that researcher's stated opinion, not an established fact; it is presented on Baron Coleman — Early Turn-In.
-
10:00 PM MDT — The Utah County inmate booking sheet records ARREST DATE 09/11/2025 10:00 PM, arresting officer DAVIS, arrest agency "Other," arrest location "Outside Ut Cnty."
-
~2226 hours (10:26 PM) — The same government narrative states Robinson "arrived at the Washington County Sheriff's Office accompanied by his parents at approximately 2226 hours," wearing a dark hat, maroon T-shirt, jeans, and white/grey Converse-style shoes. This is 26 minutes after the booking sheet says he was already arrested. Location detail on Washington County Sheriff's Office and Tyler Robinson Surrender.
-
After WCSO arrival (phone, hearing summaries) — Preliminary-hearing coverage states Washington County deputies confiscated Robinson’s phone at the facility after surrender and before Agent Davis / FBI arrival; additional devices were later seized at home. Device chain-of-custody is central to Discord/text authentication — phones and devices.
September 12, 2025 — Booking and Formalization
-
01:58 — The booking sheet records the date-in entry at 09/12/2025 01:58, roughly four hours after the 10:00 PM arrest stamp — consistent with the drive time from Hurricane to Spanish Fork, which is itself the argument for why the 10:00 PM stamp cannot be the moment Davis first arrived.
-
04:00 — The police computer system lists Arrest Date/Time: 09/12/2025 04:00, with SID: NONE and FBI ID: NONE. This is the time federal and state spokespeople used publicly, and it is six hours later than the booking sheet's own arrest stamp. Some document readers treat the 04:00 stamp as the controlling formal arrest after an investigative hold (turn-in ≠ arrest), pointing to PC materials that list September 12 04:00 — Version B for the conflicts table.
-
Early morning hours — The affidavit states that "when encountered in-person by investigators in Washington County on September 12, early morning hours," Robinson was in clothing consistent with the surveillance images.
-
07:18 — Probable Cause Entered: 09/12/2025 07:18, Probable Cause ID 189904, booking agency Utah County Sheriff Office, agency inmate ID 460956, ORI UT0250000, OTN 70090584 — the electronic record of the affidavit reaching the system.
-
On or about Sept 12 — Robinson was booked into the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork under restrictive housing; custody conditions are on Utah County Jail Custody and Utah County Jail.
-
Charges listed — Utah Code 76-5-202 aggravated murder (capital/first-degree felony), 76-8-306 obstruction of justice, and 76-11-210 felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury — the charging posture summarized on the case overview.
September 16, 2025 and After — Charging Documents
-
September 16, 2025 — First court appearance by video before Judge Tony Graf in Provo; held without bail on aggravated murder. Venue detail on Fourth District Court — Provo.
-
September 16, 2025 — The charging documents and the affidavit of probable cause omit the screwdriver that FBI leadership had described publicly on national television the day before as carrying the defendant's DNA and being found on the roof. It was the only claimed physical link to the roof left out of both documents — Confession Fabrication and Kash Patel Briefings cover the shift.
-
Affidavit content gap (claimed, texts) — Beyond the screwdriver omission, citizen document comparisons (@JohPersso, July 2026 posts with exhibit screenshots) allege Davis’s PC narrative left out a lead text — “Fuck, I tried to delete that!” — present in roommate phone materials used elsewhere in the case. Attribution only; exhibits must be checked against discovery. Lance Twiggs is a living private individual; no wrongdoing is asserted here.
-
Late 2025 onward — Discovery volume, sealing, and Brady disputes moved through the court; see Discovery & Brady Disputes and the discovery timeline.
-
March 27 filing — An addendum states the Utah State Bureau of Investigation has had 28 different law enforcement agencies produce evidence in the case, which is one measure of how large the unreleased record is.
-
July 2026 — preliminary hearing — Public coverage of Agent Brian Davis testimony (amplified by @SteveCameronPr1 ~Jul 8 2026; @BasedSamParker recap): he arrived at WCSO at ~12:00 AM September 12 / near midnight, conflicting with the booking sheet (and PC association) showing Davis arrest at 10:00 PM September 11. Commentators also note the defense did not cross-examine Davis after testimony covering surrender, roommate texts, handwritten note, Discord, warrants, and physical evidence — significance contested (strategy vs concession). Robinson remains charged, not convicted. See Preliminary Hearing.
Conflicts and Disputed Points
| Interval | Document A / Version A | Document B / Version B | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time of arrest | Booking sheet: 09/11 10:00 PM | Police computer system: 09/12 04:00 (some readers: controlling formal arrest) | 6 hours |
| Status type | Miranda 6:25 PM; family-confirm turn-in ~7 PM; call-chain ~8:02 | Physical arrival ~9–10:26 PM; formal arrest 10 PM or 4 AM | Different legal statuses often collapsed in secondary summaries |
| Arrest vs arrival at the sheriff's office | Arrested 10:00 PM | Arrived at WCSO 10:26 PM | Arrest precedes arrival by 26 min |
| Arresting officer's own account | Booking sheet names Davis as arresting at 10:00 PM | Davis's reported Jul 2026 hearing testimony: arrived ~12 AM Sept 12 | ~2 hours |
| Miranda timing | Defense exhibit timestamp 6:25 PM, date not printed | Official framing places advisement on 9/12 after transport | Up to ~14 hours |
| Confession sequencing | Discord 7:57 PM post-Miranda / possible post-custody (defense/citizen) | Discord pre-physical-surrender if body ~9 PM (@Liz_Wheeler) | Contested — Custody Confession Timeline |
| Phone custody | Hearing: WCSO seized phone after surrender, before Davis/FBI | How Discord/texts authenticated if device seized | Chain-of-custody fight |
| Screwdriver evidence | Described publicly as key roof-linking DNA evidence | Absent from both charging documents and the affidavit | Total omission |
| Text package completeness | Full message chain including alleged “Fuck, I tried to delete that!” | Davis PC narrative allegedly omits lead text (@JohPersso document comparison) | Claimed omission — verify exhibits |
A counterargument deserves to be stated plainly: Utah permits an investigative hold, so a delay between contact and formal arrest is not by itself unlawful, and clerical variation between a jail booking sheet and a statewide computer record is common. That counterargument is developed on Investigative Hold Counterpoint. What it does not explain is an arrest stamped 26 minutes before the arrival it describes.
Open Questions
- Which document controls — the booking sheet's 09/11 10:00 PM or the computer system's 09/12 04:00 — and who entered each?
- What date is printed on the unredacted Bates 3996-R1/R2 video exhibit that carries the 6:25 PM Miranda timestamp?
- Why does the arresting officer's name appear on a 10:00 PM arrest he reportedly testified he could not have made?
- Where is the Washington County Sheriff's Office lobby and interview-room video from the afternoon and evening of September 11, and under what retention policy was it destroyed?
- Why was the screwdriver, described publicly as the key roof-linking DNA evidence, omitted from both the affidavit and the charging documents?
- What is in the roughly three-hour gap between the 08:29 campus arrival and the 11:50 start of the affidavit's tracked sequence?
Laws (Charlie Kirk)
The unredacted booking sheet and police computer system audit trail showing who entered each arrest time and when, the complete Washington County Sheriff's Office video from September 11 including the Bates 3996 exhibit with its date field intact, the transport and custody logs between Hurricane and Spanish Fork, and the investigative file explaining the screwdriver's disappearance from the charging documents are things the Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws may result in powerful truths coming out that aren't out yet.
Best understanding of when this happened
Best understanding: public Robinson timeline claims concentrate in SEPT 8–13, with heavy mass on day-of (SEPT 10) and surrender chain (SEPT 11). Chart is that week only.
Date range (working model): SEPT 8–13 · Day-of + surrender neighborhood
The chart below is not a government finding. Bar height is relative likelihood from public claims. Domain is trimmed to non-trivial likelihood.
Interesting In This Area
- The affidavit tracks the morning yet never records the Challenger leaving the lot.
- Camera frames stop at 9:57 and resume at 11:44, spanning the clothing change.
- The screwdriver described on national television appears in neither charging document.
- A 6:25 PM Miranda timestamp sits hours before the booking sheet's arrest entry.
Interesting In Other Areas
- Booking paperwork and a submission record differ by six hours on one arrest.
- The probable cause affidavit is where the government first commits to a theory.
- Utah County Jail booking number 460956 logs a 01:58 date-in stamp.
- A 600,000-file production buried the contested items inside ordinary volume.
