Open Questions, Unresolved Gaps & Missing Records Timeline

Every other timeline on this site lists what happened. This one lists where nothing is recorded. It walks the same clock — September 2025 into 2026 — and stops at each interval where a record should exist and does not, each record that was requested and refused, and each pair of official statements that cannot both be true.

A gap is not evidence of wrongdoing. Cameras fail, batteries die, and records get exempted for lawful reasons. What this page argues is narrower: the pattern of where the silences fall is itself a finding, and every one of these holes is closable by disclosure. Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted, and no living person named below is accused here of any crime.

The Timeline of Gaps

Before the event

• September 3, 2025 — the unactivated unit — Orem Police emailed UVU the Charlie Kirk ticket link, then said after the shooting they were "not involved." UVU pays Orem PD annually for a joint Public Order Unit built for exactly this kind of event. No record explains why it was never activated — see UVU GRAMA Records.

• September 9, 2025 — 2:23 PM MDT — the redacted requester — An email in UVU Police Chief Jeff Long's chain reads "He wants us to get a message to Charlie Kirk." The name is redacted, the number is redacted, and whether the message was delivered appears nowhere in the 112 released pages — pre-shooting warnings.

• September 9, 2025 — 10:35 PM MDT — the two men and "a plan" — Two unidentified men asked UVU staff to speak with police about "a plan." Staff escalated it to the university cabinet. Nobody asked what the plan was, nobody documented what they told police, and their names are redacted. Forty-four minutes later a message described them as GOP reps posturing — see Foreknowledge at UVU.

• September 9–10, 2025 — the acknowledged withheld documents — UVU has acknowledged that additional documents exist and refused to release them, with names redacted under exemptions for "security of public property" and "privacy" — invoked long after the suspect was in custody and the event was over.

September 10 — the day itself

• 9:57 to 11:44 AM MDT — the clothing-change hole — Roughly one hour and forty-seven minutes with no released camera frame, precisely the window in which the reported clothing change must have happened, in a neighborhood otherwise covered by six doorbell frames — see the camera sightings timeline.

• 8:29 AM onward — the car that never leaves — The affidavit records the grey Dodge Challenger arriving at the UVU lot and never records it leaving, despite the same document reconstructing the morning minute by minute — see the vehicle movements timeline.

• 12:17 to 12:22 PM MDT — the crouch behind the wall — Five minutes in which the figure is out of camera line on the Losee Center roof. What entered that gap and what came out of it is the entire disputed core of the stairs-guy identity question.

• 12:22 PM MDT — the limp that disappears — The probable-cause affidavit itself states the notable limp "was absent" on the rooftop run, and then does not address the discrepancy. The state's own document contains the contradiction — Affidavit of Probable Cause.

• 12:23 PM vs 12:27 PM MDT — the shot time — Two shot times circulate across official-adjacent and media compilations, and they cascade into every downstream interval — see Shooting Time Disputes.

• 12:24 PM MDT onward — the rifle placement — The figure is seen crossing Campus Drive carrying an item; the rifle is later recovered in the wooded area. No frame shows the item being placed. See Gun Discovery Sequence.

• Minutes after the shot — the SD cards — An executive removed SD cards from the camera positioned behind Kirk before the scene was secured, leaving the more expensive camera body behind. TPUSA has said police instructed it or that it was theft prevention; the footage on those cards has never been published.

• ~3–9 minutes after the shot (citizen video claims) — Compilations (e.g. @DiligentDenizen) name a handoff chain: Terryl Farnsworth (TPUSA A/V) — the same person placed filming from the rock pile — reportedly pulled the closest camera's SD cards within minutes, filmed as the body was moved, and handed the cards to Phillip Goldsberry Jr., who then left the scene (the executive who removed the SD card). Those names and the minute-scale timestamps do not appear in any released police inventory; living TPUSA staff are not accused of a crime here — the gap is the unpublished cards and missing chain-of-custody log.

• Roughly 27 minutes into the response — Officer Bagley's body camera — Officer Chris Bagley's body-worn camera recording runs 27 minutes and 35 seconds and ends while he is still on the roof, before crime tape was up. He testified the battery died and that he did not return to swap or charge it. It is his only body-cam footage from that day, and it covers the moment a red and black screwdriver was found. Battery failures are genuinely common and nothing here establishes intent — see Bagley Bodycam Gap and Officer Bagley — body cam died on the roof.

• Unrecorded — the second person on the roof — Bagley reportedly never got the name of the other badged person on the roof with him. That person's identity and body-cam footage are both unaccounted for.

• Undated day-of claim — a second handgun at the scene — Some citizen video threads allege a detective later allowed camera/SD handling and that a handgun was found at the scene during that episode. No charging document or public inventory confirms it; listed here only as an unresolved claim competing with the official single-rifle narrative.

• 19 minutes after the shot — the false all-clear — UVU's first campus alert stated "suspect in custody." The suspect was not in custody. Roughly 10,000 students stayed on campus believing it was safe.

• 88 minutes after the shot — the unfilled template — The Run-Hide-Fight alert went out reading "Shooter in INSERT location." Nobody typed in the location. See Campus Security Gaps.

• 12:25 PM to 6:38 PM MDT — six hours with no footage — Between leaving campus and the reported Dairy Queen photograph, not one released frame places the subject anywhere.

• Same afternoon — the hospital interior — Hospital footage was seized by the FBI while the manhunt was still active, the ER lobby was cleared, and none of that footage is public — see Hospital Footage and NDAs and hospital security cameras removed.

• Same afternoon — shirt, mic, and lapel residue — No public report documents standard GSR or explosives-residue testing of Kirk's shirt, hand mic, or lapel mic — a forensics hole separate from the suspect GSR gap, tracked on the audio and mic timeline and medical-death timeline.

• Same evening — the witnesses' own phones — Multiple witnesses report their cellphone footage was gone by the time they got home. Whether that was a platform action, a device action, or coincidence has never been explained — Videos Deleted Remotely.

September 11–12 — the custody window

• 6:25 PM vs 10:00 PM MDT, September 11 — three and a half missing hours — Court documents cited by Baron Coleman show Robinson Mirandized at 6:25 PM; the official arrest is logged at 10:00 PM. No official has publicly acknowledged the earlier time — see Custody Timeline vs Fake Confession.

• 7:57 PM MDT, September 11 — a confession after custody — The alleged Discord confession is timestamped an hour and a half after the 6:25 PM Miranda time. Either the timestamp is wrong or the custody time is wrong or someone else had account access — see Confession Fabrication and Discord Custody Timeline.

• 7:58 PM MDT, September 11 — photos released for a man already held — The press conference released "enhanced" stairwell stills and rooftop video seeking public help identifying a suspect already in custody — see Enhanced Suspect Photos.

• 8:02 and 8:04 PM MDT, September 11 — the calls that clash with the room — Sheriff Nate Brooksby says he called Sheriff Mike Smith at 8:04 PM about the surrender. Smith was standing at the press conference at that time. Both accounts are on the record — see custody and surrender timeline.

• September 12, ~7:00 AM — 30 hours or 33? — Officials describe a "33-hour manhunt," which would place capture at 9:23 PM September 11. A 6:25 PM custody time yields roughly 30 hours. The three-hour discrepancy has never been reconciled — see Kash Patel manhunt timeline and Patel's press briefings.

• September 12, ~2:00 to 6:00 AM — the unrecorded transport — Four hours in a vehicle between Hurricane and Spanish Fork. Washington County stated it did not question him; no agency has said whether questioning occurred during the drive, and no recording is public.

• Version 1.0 vs Version 2.0 — the two sets of texts — Messages reportedly given to the FBI at 1:00 AM September 12 describe going out "on my own terms"; the September 16 indictment quotes messages saying "I'm gonna turn myself in willingly." Both are attributed to the same person about the same night — see Discord Messages.

After — the records that were asked for and refused

• September 14, 2025 — the scene itself — The courtyard was paved over four days after the shooting, on a Sunday, under what contractor Dan Merrell of Hardscape Specialties says he was told was a demand that it be done "by Monday." No public bidding record, no work-order authorization chain has been released — see Pavers and the scene-changes timeline.

• May 2026 (GRAMA claim) — A citizen GRAMA production on the paving reportedly returned only about 16 text messages and no formal work-order chain — if accurate, the thin production itself is evidence of how little authorization paperwork is public.

• Undated — the autopsy — Utah law requires an autopsy in gun-violence deaths; the death certificate was signed at the hospital and the examiner report was signed off by someone identified as not being the medical examiner. The report remains sealed — see Autopsy Sealed Examiner and Utah Autopsy Law. Online fragment-caliber and exit-wound speculation continues precisely because the medical-examiner report is not public.

• Undated — no gunshot residue test — No standard GSR test is documented for a suspect who was reportedly still in the same clothing, a gap central to No GSR and Physical Tests.

• Undated — the transport SUV — The vehicle that carried Kirk was reportedly destroyed rather than preserved for examination — SUV Destroyed. Separate November 2025 commentary says it was cleaned and later auctioned; either disposition leaves the same public gap: no complete vehicle forensics file and no public dashcam of the hospital run.

• Undated — the ATF ballistics finding — The ATF fragment comparison came back inconclusive, and the CBLA method the FBI is reported to have used was discontinued as unreliable — see ATF Inconclusive Ballistics, the banned CBLA bullet-lead test, and sealed ballistics and CBLA.

• March 2026 court filings — Defense filings stated the ATF still could not conclusively link an autopsy fragment to the recovered rifle and that the FBI's second bullet and lead analyses were still "in process" — a dated pending-test hole, not only a finished inconclusive result. • March 27, 2026 — 28 agencies, one file — A defense filing addendum notes that 28 different law enforcement agencies produced evidence to the Utah State Bureau of Investigation. No public index maps which agency produced what — see State Discovery.

• March 27, 2026 — a resignation without explanation — Sheriff Nate Brooksby resigns without stated reason, roughly eighteen months after the events his office's timeline is disputed on — see Institutional Resignations and the Brooksby resignation claims page.

• April 2026 — the case stalls on withheld files — The defense seeks a continuance because the ATF and FBI have not produced files held since September 2025; the discovery dispute is tracked on Discovery Delays and the discovery timeline.

• July 2026 preliminary hearing — no shot footage on the record — Hearing coverage and secondary posts claim that when Judge Tony Graf asked whether any video shows the shooting itself, a prosecutor answered to the effect of "There is not, Judge." That open-court position conflicts with media personalities (e.g. Jack Posobiec, as cited by posters) who said they had seen a shot video. Attribute both; do not resolve — see post-assassination investigations.

• July 2026 — lead investigator and the paving — According to preliminary-hearing coverage, SBI agent David Hull testified he was not consulted on excavating and paving the courtyard and did not know who authorized it — converting the work-order gap from a missing document into sworn investigative unawareness. • July 2026 (claims) — UVU's own after-action — Commentators including @JillianFaithVA note that UVU's day-of police review was still unfinished roughly ten months later, even after outside PR, security, and legal contractors were hired — no public after-action report has been released.

• ~July 10, 2026 (claims) — the fragment measurement and the envelope — Reply-thread posters (@Eric98039344326, within the Paramount Tactical / Ian Carroll ecosystem) claim the autopsy fragment measured roughly .267–.301 inches rather than the .308 expected from a .30-06, and that three items were missing from a chain-of-custody envelope. Low-engagement and unverified against any court exhibit; listed as an open item, not a finding — see autopsy and forensic timeline and ATF fragment inconclusive.

• July 2026 (claims) — vehicle exhibit identity — Some hearing commentary alleges the car the FBI seized does not match the vehicle shown in Utah SBI's UVU video presentation — an exhibit-identity dispute still unresolved in public materials; see vehicle movements.

• Ongoing — the screwdriver and the DNA — Physical-evidence statements about the roof screwdriver and associated DNA were left out of the charging documents and the affidavit despite being described as critical; see Forensic Tests Skipped.

• Ongoing — the high-definition footage — UVU has acknowledged holding higher-resolution footage than the "1973-quality VHS" release; it has not been produced — UVU HD Footage Withheld.

• Ongoing — the foreign flight records — Manifests and passenger lists for the Egyptian aircraft at Provo and the ISR aircraft over the valley have not been released — Foreign Flight Records.

• Ongoing — body disposition — Beyond the sealed autopsy, there is still no public medical-examiner confirmation of burial versus cremation location, which continues to fuel online body-disposition speculation tracked on the funeral timeline.

• Ongoing (claims) — multi-person doorbell frames — Some investigators allege doorbell frames show a bald man and additional occupants not reconciled in the official single-subject camera narrative — a camera-identity gap, not a guilt finding; see camera sightings.

The unredacted UVU GRAMA correspondence and the documents UVU admits it holds and refuses to release, the original high-definition campus footage covering both unreleased windows, the full body-worn camera inventory for every officer and badged person on the Losee Center roof, the SD cards removed from the camera behind Kirk, the sealed autopsy and the medical examiner sign-off chain, the ATF and FBI files withheld from the defense since September 2025, the paving work order and its authorization chain, and the manifests for every foreign and ISR aircraft over Utah County that week are things the Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws may result in powerful truths coming out that aren't out yet.
