Rental Cars & Vehicle Movements Timeline

This timeline follows the vehicles, not the people. Six of them carry weight in this case: the grey Dodge Challenger, the grey van parked behind the tent, the black SUV that carried Charlie Kirk to the hospital and was later destroyed, the minivan or SUV with the open back hatch, the monopod camera truck, and the rental cars issued to passengers off foreign aircraft at Provo Airport (the counter-drone question at that field is on Provo Airport Counter-UAS). Each one has a chronology, and each one has a hole in it.

Tyler Robinson is charged, not convicted. Every person named below is alive unless stated otherwise, and no claim here asserts criminal conduct by anyone.

The Timeline​

Before the event​

  • May 27 to June 2, 2025 — Egyptian-registered SU-BTU lands at and departs Provo Municipal Airport with passengers who, per aviation researchers, moved onward by ground vehicle; the Egyptian crew hotel research is an attempt to reconstruct that ground leg.

  • September 4–10, 2025 — SU-BTT sits at Provo through the event window; its full movement log is on the SU-BTT movements timeline. Candace Owens alleges that rental cars were issued via Duncan Aviation to unidentified passengers from those aircraft; Duncan Aviation operates a maintenance facility at Provo but is not documented to offer car rental, so who actually issued the vehicles is unresolved — see Egyptian Jets at Provo.

  • September 10, 2025 — morning — Event production vehicles, including the TPUSA production rigs and the camera truck carrying the monopod camera setup — the Canon XA55 broadcast rig — are staged around the UVU courtyard; who parked which vehicle where has never been published as a diagram.

September 10 — the day​

  • 8:23 AM MDT — A WYZE camera on W 880 S records the grey Dodge Challenger being driven, the first vehicle frame of the day.

  • 8:28–8:29 AM MDT — UVU surveillance and citizen warrant-timeline compilations place the grey Dodge Challenger arriving on campus / entering a garage and parking. The probable-cause affidavit uses this frame — and never records when the car left the lot, an omission citizen researchers flag as conspicuous given how completely the morning is otherwise reconstructed on the camera sightings timeline.

  • ~8:28–9:24 AM MDT (warrant-compilation claims) — Compilations circulating on X (e.g. @MsJaneDoeUKnow citing warrant/dashcam research, including WARRANT 3215391 references) describe a reconnaissance walk window after the Challenger parks. Treat as research compilation of alleged warrant content, not a court-admitted fact on this page.

  • ~9:32 AM MDT (warrant-compilation claims) — The same compilations place the grey Challenger leaving campus about 9:32 AM heading northeast — a candidate answer to the affidavit's missing departure time if the underlying warrant materials are produced and authenticated. The official public affidavit still does not state a departure clock.

  • ~11:30 AM MDT — A car reportedly belonging to Utah legislator Phil Lyman is parked at a house on the route the suspect figure walks past at 11:49 AM. The site records the coincidence and asserts nothing further; Lyman is a living person and has not been accused by any authority of anything.

  • ~11:50 AM MDT — Per the roof and camera timelines, the figure associated with the later roof sequence is said to return on foot after the morning vehicle window — see roof-jumping timeline.

  • ~12:07 PM MDT (claims) — Drone footage that researchers say syncs with parking-lot cameras and FBI-released clips is timestamped in the minutes before the shot; whether those "same cars" identifications hold up depends on footage nobody has released in full — see Military Drones on Video.

  • 12:23:26 PM MDT, four seconds before the shot (claims) — The rear hatch of a grey van parked behind and to the right of Kirk's position, tucked under the tunnel and partly obscured by the tent, reportedly snaps open — and slams shut immediately after the crack. This is the core of the Grey Van Shooter theory, built on enhanced reflections and frame analysis; it is contested even among investigators sympathetic to alternative-shooter theories.

  • ~12:23 PM MDT (Coleman parking-lot analysis, claimed) — Baron Coleman parking-lot breakdowns, as summarized on X (e.g. @PaulyRubino), describe a white SUV that arrives near the shot second, pauses during the roof-egress window, then leaves — framed by some as a possible support vehicle. Unproven coordination; vehicle-ID not adjudicated. Parallel courtyard clocks are on the minute-by-minute page.

  • 12:23:30 PM MDT — The shot. Security begins moving Kirk at 00:18, per the minute-by-minute reconstruction.

  • 12:24:01 PM MDT — Kirk is loaded into a black GMC Yukon Denali, the transport SUV, at roughly 00:31 into that sequence.

  • 12:24:12 PM MDT — Frank Turek enters the SUV at roughly 00:42; the SUV departs for Timpanogos Regional Hospital between 00:43 and 01:05 — see SUV Transporting Charlie.

  • Post-shot Sept 10 (KSL live broadcast claims) — Citizen investigators (e.g. @ProjectConstitu) highlight a grey Dodge Challenger in the UVU exit line on KSL's live feed during the chaos. A counter-claim notes exhaust-configuration differences (dual vs quad) from the car publicly associated with Robinson, so multi-vehicle or mis-ID remains open.

  • ~12:43–12:45 PM MDT (claimed) — Per @MJTruthUltra (h/t @ryanmatta), video analysis places a grey Challenger matching public photos about 1.6 miles from UVU roughly 20 minutes after the shot, stopped ~2 minutes while a white vehicle loops and then follows it away — contested identification, not court-proven.

  • ~12:31 to 12:35 PM MDT — The SUV arrives at the hospital. Researchers note the chosen hospital was not the nearest facility — the trauma centre bypassed question, also examined on the medical and death timeline and at no ambulance, scoop and run.

  • After the shot — A black SUV or minivan with the back hatch open appears in courtyard footage; the person associated with it, described as wearing a baseball cap with curly hair, has been the subject of competing identification attempts, none confirmed. The site does not name a suspect — see Curly Hair Man. Baron Coleman / @lifeisdriving notes also cite a white Toyota Camry and silver Toyota RAV4 lined up back-to-back leaving the scene (coincidence claim only).

  • 12:57 PM MDT (warrant-compilation claims) — The same Challenger warrant-timeline bank places the vehicle at a Quick Quack Car Wash about half an hour after the shot — not in the public affidavit narrative.

  • 6:38 PM MDT — A photograph released by Owens reportedly places Robinson at an Orem Dairy Queen, about 17 minutes from campus by car — which requires the Challenger to have left the UVU lot at a time no public record documents. Caution: a widely liked Sept 2025 post misframed the image as "17 minutes after" the shot; community notes and Owens' original timing place it at 6:38 PM, not 12:40 PM.

  • 8:55 to 9:47 PM MDT (contested) — The circulated Cowboy's Smokehouse receipt would require a substantial drive from Orem in the intervening hours. The receipt is unauthenticated and the restaurant location unconfirmed — see Cowboy's Smokehouse Receipt.

  • ~Midnight (claims) — Text messages attributed to Robinson describe a midnight encounter with an officer and a Challenger parked in front of the "Nobles" house with a bald driver and three passengers, captured on a Ring camera. The messages themselves sit in the Twiggs phone evidence set attributed to Lance Twiggs. If the restaurant receipt is genuine these messages cannot be, and vice versa — one of the sharpest contradictions on the gaps timeline.

September 11 — the drive south​

  • ~12:47 AM Sept 11 (claimed) — Nest/doorbell footage in citizen warrant compilations reportedly shows the Challenger overnight near an Orem residence before a southbound departure narrative.

  • ~1:33–1:35 AM Sept 11 (claimed) — The same compilations place Google Maps / departure activity leaving Orem toward the St. George corridor (pre–Cedar City Maverik), including a route near the rifle-recovery area. Unauthenticated until warrant exhibits are public.

  • Overnight into early September 11 — The grey Dodge Challenger travels south on I-15, roughly 250 miles from Orem toward the St. George and Washington City area, per news reconstructions summarized on Tyler Robinson Travel. Compilations also cite VANTRUE dashcam recovery tied to the Challenger evidence package.

  • 7:15–7:17 AM MDT — The Challenger stops at the Cedar City Maverik (compilations also cite ~7:16 AM LPR). The driver pays at the pump with a credit card, fuels up, and does not approach any trash cans — notable because authorities had specifically alerted stations to watch for dumped evidence.

  • Daytime, September 11 — No documented vehicle movement. The car and driver are placed at the parents' residence in Washington City by reporting, but no camera frame or record covers the interval.

  • 8:02 PM MDT — A retired Washington County detective, acting as a family friend, calls Sheriff Nate Brooksby to arrange a surrender, per the sheriff's later account — later followed by his resignation. It is a timeline Baron Coleman disputes as incompatible with a 6:25 PM Miranda time; see also Miranda vs the Brooksby account.

  • Shortly after 8:02 PM MDT — The retired detective drives Robinson and his parents from the Washington City residence directly to the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Hurricane, a 15–20 minute local drive. No stop at Robinson's St. George apartment appears in any account — see Tyler's Apartment.

  • 9:00 to 10:00 PM MDT (accounts vary) — Arrival at the sheriff's office. Some reports say "around 9 PM," others "just before 10 PM"; the 10:00 PM figure is the one that appears as the official arrest time, and the discrepancy is the hinge of the custody and surrender timeline.

September 12 — the transport north​

  • ~2:00 AM MDT — Federal and state investigators take custody at Hurricane and drive Robinson north to Utah County — roughly 250 miles, three and a half to four hours — to the Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork. Whether any interview occurred during that drive is not addressed in any public statement; Washington County explicitly said it did not question him.

  • Utah County officer Brian Davis is recorded as making the arrest at the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 10:00 PM on September 11 — which would require him to have already driven the same 3.25–4 hours south. Coleman argues his presence fits a 6:25 PM custody time far better than an 8:04 PM notification call; see Custody Timeline vs Fake Confession.

After​

  • Undated, post-event (competing disposal narratives) — The black GMC Yukon Denali that transported Kirk is reported in some accounts to have been chopped up and melted down; other 2025–2026 posts allege it was towed, cleaned, auctioned/resold, with later "located" photo threads claiming rear seats removed (e.g. @JodyChaseTN, @danksterintel). A vehicle that carried the victim, the wound, and any trace material from the microphone assembly — the RØDE mic — is primary-evidence material either way; see SUV Destroyed, the ADL-floor destruction claim and the blurred SUV windows.

  • Undated, post-event — Photographs attributed to Owens showing the SUV interior circulate: staining on the second-row seats, debris on the floor, and a small dark object with a blue label some viewers describe as a transmitter or windscreen. The images are not independently authenticated, and the debris could have innocent explanations — see Burnt Object / RODE Transmitter.

  • Ongoing — Investigators publicly ask anyone who saw specific vehicles in UVU lots or nearby streets that day to come forward, because no comprehensive parking-lot camera release has ever been made; see Airborne Surveillance Records for the parallel problem in the air.

Open Questions​

  1. What time did the grey Dodge Challenger leave the UVU parking lot — is the warrant-compilation ~9:32 AM clock authentic — and which camera covers that lot?
  2. Are the KSL exit-line, 1.6-mile post-shot, and Quick Quack 12:57 PM Challenger IDs the same vehicle, and do exhaust-config differences kill any of them?
  3. Who rented the vehicles issued to passengers off the Egyptian aircraft at Provo, and under what names?
  4. Where is the grey van now, who owned it, and was it ever searched?
  5. Who owned or drove the minivan or SUV with the open back hatch, and the white SUV at bang, and what was placed in or taken from them?
  6. Who authorized the destruction or auction of the transport SUV, and was any forensic examination completed first?
  7. Was Robinson questioned during the four-hour transport drive on September 12, and is there a recording?
  8. Do UVU and Orem hold license-plate reader data and the VANTRUE dashcam / Nest exhibits for September 10–11, and have they been produced?

The complete UVU parking-lot camera footage covering the grey Dodge Challenger from 8:29 AM to its departure, the license-plate reader logs for campus and surrounding streets on September 10, the rental agreements and lessee names for every vehicle issued to passengers from foreign aircraft at Provo, the ownership and search records for the grey van and the open-hatch minivan, the full disposal authorization and forensic report for the black GMC Yukon Denali before it was destroyed, and any recording of the September 12 transport drive are things the Charlie Kirk Investigation Laws may result in powerful truths coming out that aren't out yet.
