Official Suspect Narrative (Charged, Not Adjudicated)
Mainstream reporting and charging documents allege:
- Tyler Robinson, 22, a UVU student, fired from a rooftop of the Losee Center (~150 yards from the courtyard) with a .30-06 Springfield Mauser Model 98 bolt-action rifle mounted with a scope
- Charging materials describe movement tracked ~11:52 a.m. through stairwells and up to the Losee Center roof in dark clothing, a dark item (rifle wrapped in a dark-colored towel) placed on the roof at ~12:24 p.m., the figure lowering to the grass and fleeing north across Campus Drive into a wooded area, and a shoe impression consistent with Converse/Chuck Taylor sneakers; the Mauser was recovered in the woods
