September 11 - The Day He Turned Himself In

The Discord confession attributed to Tyler Robinson is timestamped 7:57 PM on September 11, 2025. The defense filing quoting discovery exhibit Bates 003996-R2 places him Mirandized on video at 6:25 PM the same evening. Those two clocks have never been reconciled.
What this page adds is the part that had been missing: the state's own witness, on the record, putting September 11 as the day Robinson turned himself in - and the underlying filing page itself, rather than a paraphrase of it.
What the witness said
The clip is short enough to quote in full. It is cross-examination about the Cellebrite extraction of Lance Twiggs' phone:
Q. We mentioned a Cellebrite extraction of Mr. Twiggs' phone. Do you know what time that last text was sent?
A. Yeah, I recall it was just before 8 p.m. on September 11th. It was, I think, 7:42 PM is my recollection.
Q. I'm sorry, September 11?
A. Yes.
Q. Um, when September 12th — make more sense, or you're saying September 11th?
A. So September 11th.
Q. Was when he turned himself in, September 11th?
A. Yep.
Q. Okay, thank you.
Two separate things come out of those thirty-five seconds.
First, the last message on the phone is placed at roughly 7:42 PM on September 11 — inside the window the official account says Robinson was still at large and had not yet posted the confession.
Second, and more directly, the witness was handed an explicit opportunity to move the date to September 12 and declined it, then agreed that September 11 "was when he turned himself in."
We are describing what a recording of a public hearing appears to show. We are not stating that any witness gave false testimony. A witness can misremember a date under questioning; recollection offered from memory in a hearing is not a document, and the transcript, not this clip, is the record. @JohPersso's post asks "Did the agent lie under oath?" — that is the poster's question, framed as a question, and nothing here answers it. What can be said is narrower and stronger: on this point the state's witness and the defense filing agree with each other, and both disagree with the 7:57 PM confession.

The site has carried the 6:25 PM figure for some time, but as an explainer's paraphrase. Both underlying pages are now captured.
The index. Row 15 of the discovery exhibit list reads "Video at WCSO on 9/11/2025", Bates number 3996-R1, disclosed 11/25/2025. WCSO is the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The exhibit's existence, and its September 11 date, are printed on a numbered index page produced in discovery — not asserted by a commentator. The rows immediately below it are the ones this whole section turns on: 16 the recorded 1102 statement of Lance Twiggs, 16.1 "Text messages between TR and LT", 16.2 "Discord chats", 16.3 "Photograph of note".
The filing. Page 70 quotes the companion exhibit 003996-R2 at internal video timestamp 03:36:53, and reproduces the exchange:
06:25 PM / 03:36:53 — "So Tyler, um, before we begin, I'm just gonna read you your rights. … You have the right to remain silent. … So are you, are you good to proceed? I'd love to talk to you."
06:26 PM / 03:37:38 — "Uh, I would like to speak with my, uh, legal counsel. I'm hoping for a fellow in Utah named Doug Terry."
06:26 PM / 03:37:39 — "Uh, told he's a pretty good, uh, attorney here, but I, I think my folks are trying to get ahold of him, but I think his office is closed for the night."
06:26 PM / 03:37:52 — "But, uh, until I've had the opportunity to speak with someone, I would like to remain silent."
The same page then makes the defense's own point about what followed: that officials who told the media Robinson "was refusing to cooperate" were describing a man exercising a Fifth and Sixth Amendment right, and that no adverse inference should be drawn from that silence.
The 5:55 PM text - the surrender was already arranged

The quoted explainer adds a third timestamp, read into the record by defense counsel at the same hearing. From the transcript of the clip:
"The nearest timestamp on this text message is on page 10, which says yesterday at 5:55 p.m. If the court looks at the text messages that come just before it, what the court sees is somebody who the state alleges is Mr. Robinson saying to Mr. Twiggs, quote, 'I'm going to turn myself in willingly, one of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.'"
Counsel's argument from there is a sequencing one. By that point in the state's own account, the person it says is Robinson had left Orem, driven back to St. George, spoken with his father, and arranged through Mike Mitchell's 1102 statement for Mitchell to help him surrender to the Washington County Sheriff.
"By 5:55 p.m., according to these messages and according to Mike Mitchell's 1102, he and Tyler Robinson had already worked out the details of turning Tyler in to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. So what are we supposed to believe — that they then waited for several hours for Tyler to then confess to the Discord chat before turning himself in? Or did he actually turn himself in around 6:25 p.m., like the Bates documents said."

Read downward, the first four rows describe a surrender that was planned, executed, and recorded before the confession was posted. The last three describe a manhunt that was still running.
What this does and does not establish
It does establish that the September 11 turn-in is no longer only a citizen-investigator reading of a leaked exhibit. It is now supported by a numbered discovery index, a filed defense brief quoting the video verbatim, and sworn testimony from the state's side that names the same date.
It does not establish who typed the Discord message, and nothing here should be read as an accusation against any named person. Two ordinary explanations remain live and are recorded on the Bates 003996-R2 page: the 6:25 PM reading could be a misread frame or an unsynced internal video clock, or someone other than Robinson could have had access to the account — which would undo the confession as a confession by a different route.
The single record that would settle it has still not been produced: Discord's own login-IP history for the account that posted the message on September 11. That is obtainable by investigators through lawful process and by nobody else. Until it is produced and, so far as the law allows, made public, the two clocks stay unreconciled.
